My child has had a great experience at BMS. They have before and after school tutoring and intramurals. There are a lot of clubs including the winter sports club where there is a three week skiing trip every year. The administration is very receptive to parental concerns.

Belleville (New Jersey) Public Schools are HORRIBLE to say the least. There is little to no communication between school and parents. The learning environment is dysfunctional. The curriculum is all over the place and fluctuates every school year. Children learn on electronics, there little to NO work done on paper. They use electronics/apps to “communicate” with parents but more than one platform is used for grades, school assignments, communication with teachers. The children are treated as inmates not learners. The students are 1 or more grade levels behind in academics. Parents have no voice and neither do the teachers. They do not miss communication when dealing with community events but parents are uninformed and oblivious to the little things happening in school i.e. report cards/progress reports/parent conferences.

Too much summer work. The amount of work that this school gives is ridiculous. One year or two years ago, summer assignments would include only math and language arts. Now all of a sudden there is science and social studies included for summer work. Not even Belleville High School students get assignments from all 4 main subjects. I've wasted so much time doing a math summer assignments that consists of 700 questions AND problems. The numbers are outrageous! Now I have to do another 700 math problems online. That is not fair. And guess what? That is only from math alone. Social studies, ELA, and science have much more work for students to dwell on for the summer. What's the point of calling it summer break when there is no "break"? All this work is honestly unnecessary and overwhelming. It's not so much for students to "help them not fall behind during the summer" or "to start off the good old new year with knowledge that you just grinded for hours during the summer". Unfortunately, many adults have this traditional misconception. It's not productive but simply a waste of time. I could be doing something better than having all this work in mind to do for the entire summer. It's TORTURE!

After going through the ups and downs of moving to a different state, to find lots of help at the time of registering my son to this school was a relief and my son loves his school.

This is the best Middle School in NJ. Obviously, the review below is a complete lie. The principle is trustworthy, vigilant, and caring for all students. There are barely bullies in the Middle School. Every student is treated with respect. And whenever a student is academically failing, the teachers will do their best to make the, succeed. My child, a boy, was failing in other grades in the school of my hometown. But when we moved here, he succeeded into being an honor student.Apparently, the students and staff of the school as the best people you will ever meet, with kind personalities. The clubs develop the structure of the future, and they are achieving in doing that. Overall, this is the best middle school. In a scale of 1-10, I recommend 100.

I would strongly recommend people not sending their kids to Belleville Middle School or the High School. Unless you're close with the administration, you child will be left behind, acedemically. this school doesn't prepare you child for anything other than a failure. the principal is horrible and only cares about passing the ap kids. they make all kinds of excuses when confronted.
