This is a wonderful inclusive and diverse school. We have loved our time at STM.

For the many years I have been a student at St Thomas More, I got to experience many things. The teachers are wonderful and try to help as much as they can. The principal encourages everyone to be kind and calls out all the students and teachers who have achieved this. If you actually try, you can makes good grades. The teachers try not to make things too hard and think about what the students may be going through. For instance, a teacher may call off a test because they have noticed that there are 3 other tests on the same day. This has happened quite often and it shows how the teachers care about how hard we work. Most of the teachers have worked in the school for years and know how to deal with kids on bad behavior. St Thomas More is not perfect but we’ll try our hardest to make sure our school is a welcoming school for all new students like how Jesus would want.

I would not recommend this school to any parent of a young child. I cannot speak to the experience of older children who may have attended Formal schooling and whose education was not interrupted during the pandemic, but my child started STM a couple of months after his fourth birthday, and was VERY excited to start school. This experience made him more quiet at home and wary of schools in general. During the application process, I made sure to explain, and to ask questions about, that he had not been in school before because the pandemic began when he was two years old and so I kept him home throughout it. I explained that he didn’t have siblings. I was assured that the school was very familiar with students who were “rebounding” from the pandemic because this is a common experience for many kids (the pandemic was global, after all). During the first week of school there was so much exasperation directed at him not being able to walk in a line, sit still for an hour of circle time, etc. The teacher was exasperated that he “only” wanted to read books and to not sit in the circle. we had a conference with the teacher and guidance counselor that left me feeling, for the first time, like he might not have the capacity to succeed in pre-k, much less elementary school in general. The teacher would send notes home every day about what he could not do; I withdrew him after a month, and just began taking him to story times and other activities (which we always had positive experiences at, and received compliments on his behavior and interest in learning). He has started another prek program at a non-religious private school and I have to say that I feel more of the affection and grace that we as Christians profess to embody than I felt at STM, a Christian catholic school. While my son asked to go to school for months before attending STM for one month, it was very hard to get him to walk into a school after his experience there, and that broke my heart. He loves his school experience now and I am so grateful. I do think that the staff at STM was friendly to ME, so I actually don’t want to disparage anyone, but I MUST warn parents of young students who don’t have the benefit of similar age students and/or who grew up in a home that took pandemic precautions. The school may not know what to do with your child, which I fear will result in lowering your child’s confidence and sort of a transition from a childlike innocence to a wariness of people and places.

Catholic Private Schools are not as esteemed as they once were. St Thomas More is a prime example of that. The quality of teachers have diminished over the years. The fact that Private school teachers are not required to be certified, has proven to be detrimental to the schools and students.During my son’s time at STTM, I heard more about the rules and policies, opposed to his education. His teacher was so scattered brained and unorganized and it showed in his education. We have opted for home school. If you can home school your kids, give it a try.

Excellent and welcoming learning experience for your children. Both of my daughters attended Pre-K through 8th Grade. They not only learned to enjoy school, it prepared them well for continuing their education. Fully grown now, one is a practicing physician and the other is an MIT educated software engineer. I credit STM, and the Catholic School System in Baton Rouge, for allowing them to develop a foundation for a successful future.

We love STM. Everything is great. The teachers and staff communicate everything on a regular basis via notes sent home, emails, parent portal, and text messages.

From a lack of communication with parents to compete disorganization, I am pulling my kids from this school. They don't admit when they're wrong and its like talking to brick walls. There are very few great people there. The school counselors are great as is the school nurse. A handful of teachers were very good, but they left or will probably leave with the new administration. The new administration seems money hungry and everything has gone up exponentially. It feels like they're weeding out the middle class by making it not as affordable.

The best of the best. We LOVE this school and hated leaving to go to high school. Everyone there, teachers, administrators, and front office truly care about our children. They were so prepared for high school.

I do not like this school at all because of my child's experiences. The staff does not help at all with any of the kids problems. My child comes home everyday saying how his friends get detentions for no reasons. I thought this was a catholic school. This is not how u treaty a kid. And you don't just put a kid in a room with no one guiding him/her this school is insane. We need better teachers. This school is not a school of excellence I believe my kid so much and a ton of parents I hear complaints from. I hear they don't help kids when they get bullied because my niece got bullied here a couple years ago and they didn't help and she went to a different school. The do good helping with religion and during basketball tryouts the school picks favorites and I believe that this school is all about favorites. I see how the staff treats some of the kids
