Today was my first time interacting with Audubon Elementary School office staff. They seemed to be very irritated with every parent that approached asking to check their child out early. One of the ladies that worked in the office went as far as to call out the names of each child and how many times they had been picked up early and/or absent. She was very demeaning as spoke with the parent loudly about a conversation they had previously had about what would happen if she countiued picking her children up early. As the other parents and I listened and watched I couldn't help but to ask the parent beside me if the staff was usually this rude. She said yes it was like that when she registered her child for school as well. I watched as they treated multiple situations with very little care or privacy. A teacher or teachers aid walked a student into the office and began to tell the parent all the issues the child was having in class. My heart broke for that mom as she sat with all of the other parents and listened. While I do understand the office staff's frustration and even the teachers issue with the students behavior there needs to be much more care taken with the families in our public schools. Issues/information about the children and or parents should always be discussed privately. Let's not forget in all the busyness that teachers and parents are on the same side.

My daughter did very well her only year at this school. They made sure the kids knew the importance of test scores and prepared them for Leap testing with extra tutoring. The principal and teachers did an excellent job this past school year.

I think Audubon has some really good teachers, but I don't know about the Principal Ms. Dangerfield. She comes across as very cold, uncaring and inconsiderate. Last year the parents were allowed to walk there child to class in the morning if they chose to. Allowing the parents to bond with there child's teacher. Now she doesn't want the parents no where in the building. I even asked about volunteer work and she told me flat out no they don't need me. How do she expect parents to interact and form a relationship with there child's teach if she wants to band the parents from the building; as if she's hiding something she doesn't want the parents to see. Making the parents not feel wanted is not a good idea. I'm actually thinking about removing my kids from Audubon. Ms. Roberts was a much better Principals. I wish she would return to Audubon for the sake of the students and to give the parents piece of mind...

I love this school. Sorry to see old principle leave but happy new principle is just as caring. Great resource teachers! Helped my son out alot and really showed concern of his problems and progress. (Will miss you!) Patient and really wants your child to do good. The dean is a bit difficult but not so much where there are any problems. Just keeping the school running smoothly. I love the open door policy. This school encourages parental involvement as even has a special day for dads called the Best Man's Luncheon. The best part of this school, I think, is how the present teachers seem to confer with the former teachers of my boys for a heads up of strengths and weaknesses, therefore making sure my boys and the teachers both have a little jump on whats to come. We are moving next school year and will be sorry to go!
