Baldwin High School stands out for its welcoming environment and strong academic programs. Many students and parents appreciate the dedicated teachers who genuinely care about student success and provide personalized support. The variety of Advanced Placement (AP) courses and honors classes prepare students well for college.

I have 2 sons that have attended the Baldwin Senior high school and I believe they received a solid education. Both my children tested into the honors and AP classes and did well. My children observed that their classmates were interested in learning and excelling academically. My oldest son graduated Baldwin Senior HS and went on to an Ivy League college. My youngest son is currently at the HS and continues to excel academically. The Baldwin school district has a full range of AP courses in which many students can take advantage. My children have classmates with similar experiences. The principal and teachers are invested in the students’ future. The quality education here has been one of the highlights for us moving to this area 9 years ago.

The school offers a variety of classes as electives as well as rigorous AP courses. The staff are invested in the students and the new principal (since 2019) is personable and has the students’ best interest at heart. I am a proud parent of a junior in the school and feel grateful for the experience he’s had in the school. The pandemic brought about many challenges for not only students but for staff and parents as well. I feel the school took into account the students’ social emotional well being as well as their academic needs.

Positive experience overall. Students are long term residents of the community and all seem to get along. The faculty are vested in their students' outcome.

The school is filthy with roaches. theyre dirt poor and make many budget cuts along with fights all the time, and the fights are like a tv show for the security guards because they dont do anything. food is gross and bathrooms are probably only cleaned once a month or something because the garbage overflows in the garbage can. some teachers really care about the school and the students, but others dont care at all. if youre a student who wants a good teacher, all you can do is hope.

I would rate this a good school. My daughter will be a senior next year. She has had tutoring only in math on and off. She has passed all her regents exams, AP exams. She was inducted in the national honor society. She is also involved in sports, has leadership roles at school and enjoys being there. Her SAT scores were good with no prep. She is definitely college bound and will graduate with about 20 credits for college if she successfully completes her senior year. Teachers respond quickly. Parents have access to parent portal to see grades daily.

As a regular student (no honors) i can tell you that the school is lackluster. We have budget issues a mile wide and from what I've gathered a distinctive lack of electives compared to other schools in the area. The principal is completely inattentive, and most teachers don't seem to care for the well-being of most students. I've heard over the years that it was once a upstanding school, but take my word that its gone down the drain. There'd frequent fights that seem to amount to little repercussion since the same kids will come back again and again regardless of what they've done previously. Most of my peers skip all the time and all day and no adult makes any effort to get them to stay. Honors kids get special attention and privileges that the rest of us don't, which is unfair as most students just cant handle the work load with so little support. Alot of teachers also pick and choose favorites as well as kids they don't like specifically which affects out performance. Its noticeable enough that even other students can see it. All in all its not nearly the exemplary school that all the other reviews try to make it out to be.

I am an active parent of a Baldwin High School student and feel quite concerned about the negative comments the school has received. Remember like any school, the students make the school. It appears to me that the negative ratings and comments are not only based on test scores but on the demographics of the community. Baldwin High School students are 48% African Americans, about 35% White/European Americans, and 17% or less Hispanics. It appears to me that when any school is dominated by a group other than White/European Americans it is classified as an inadequate school. The students in this great diversified community come from families who are classified as professionals. The professionals I'm referring to are doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers, and corporate management. The school has a excellent academic agenda with great teachers and subpar teachers, just like any other school, private or public. The parents who have students that attend this institution are extremely active in the community as well as the school. We need to stop classifying a school as a failure or horrible when the demographics in the area is diversified. Baldwin High School is a good school.

The academic and administrative staff is great. I have a freshman in the school. The music program is wonderful. The sportsnite tradition is currently 80 yrs old. My daughter has made high honor roll 3 quarters in a row.

As a graduate of Baldwin Senior High School, it's disheartening for me to read the comments below and see just how much the school has declined since I was a student there. Back then, the school's reputation was stellar and deservedly so: teachers were dedicated and fully engaged, and students the vast majority of whom were college-bound truly cared about their grades and their futures. Apart from the excellent academics and wonderful enrichment of after-school activities and clubs, BSHS was always a totally safe place to be. I can't remember there ever being a need for a police presence on school grounds. It's sad for me to know that this is no longer the case. It sounds as if the school has declined markedly since I was a student there; if the numbers of spelling and grammatical mistakes I saw in students' reviews on this site are any indicator, there is some serious work to be done to bring academic standards back up to speed.

Baldwin High continues to be a great public high school. The academic and administrative staff is great and will contact the parents if need be. I have two seniors and a junior in the school. The guidance counselor involvement the entire college search and acceptance procedure has been exceptional. The school has had a couple of recent events that have put a cloud over the overall experience but I feel the positive way outweighs the negative.
