GMHS has always had a special place in my heart. As an alumnae of Garces, I can say that it greatly helps prepare students for college as well as opens many doors.

GMHS Is An excellent school, their academic program is set to help the top students to advance more in their education and at the same time helps all students through "collaboration " an instructional time that every other day the teachers work guiding students and resolving doubts . Morals are the key, Catholic Faith is the pillar, however other faiths are welcome and respected. It is a multicultural wide range socio-economic school. Very strong in athletics, " healthy mind in a healthy body" . Parent's collaboration is required, students acknowledge and appreciate parents involvement and help in the differents opportunities the school provide. Students are required and thought to be polite and respectful. They enjoy fun original activities and have clubs of interests. The music program is very good. The Garces graduates got accepted in Berkeley, UCLA, USC, UCSD, Notre Dame, NYU, LSU, Rice U, De Paul, and many other top Universities in the Country. If your student is having a trouble or is going through a difficult step in their life, Garces has a special counseling program to help your student to move forward (private, and free) Garces is not perfect but they try their best!

My son is an amazing football player an has great grades, however we are not wealthy as some of the students so he cannot play ball and or get the teachers attention when he needs help. This school is a waste of money and a popularity contest. If your broke you won't fit in! How's that for a CATHOLIC school!

Garces has no principal. The current one is temporary. The administration/counseling personal lack administrative credentials. Multiple teaching positions were vacant and filled with relatives or friends. Grade inflation. Definitely look elsewhere for quality private school education.

My three children all attended Garces over a period of 10 years. The learning environment is exceptionable. A review of results measured by the SAT and ACT scores, as well as great performance on AP tests, bears out the academic skills passed on by a caring and skilled set of teachers. Given its small size there is good access for athletes of all skills and ranges, allowing for students who may not otherwise participate in sports to gain access to a team sport and actually participate. There are a myriad number of different activities, including clubs and academically related events which are sponsored by the school and its community. Parental participation is encouraged and actually required by way of service hours. If you want your child to have a great chance of completing college this is the place in Bakersfield to send them for high school.

Garces develops students intellectually, spiritually, and socially. Garces provides a spiritual environment that helps the student recognize God's calling. Not only is it a great spiritual school, it also has the best school spirit in Bakersfield! I highly recommend sending your student to Garces; great memories and friendships are formed that will last a lifetime.
