We love attending Zavala Elementary, it is a small school with a community feel where many of the staff and teachers have stayed for years and years, no easy feat to find in Austin ISD. When my children walk down the halls, everyone knows their names, the teachers and staff are open and communicative and so clearly strive to give the best to one another and every child on campus.

Our child has attended Zavala for 5th grade after our elementary was closed. This is a very strange pandemic year, but the teachers, staff, and students have been very welcoming and warm. The teachers clearly care very much about their students and help them reach their goals. We only regret not having more time to get to know the school in a more normal setting. Zavala is a historic neighborhood school rich with highly experienced educators and a lovely community, and we would have had our child attend for all of elementary without hesitation.

My little boy goes to Zavala. I love it there. His teacher holds high expectations and is highly effective. The school has a family feel to it. It’s a wonderful learning community.

My three children went to Zavala from 2002-2015. It was an amazing experience! I loved our time there. The teachers and staff are helpful and supportive. It truly felt like we were a family. The gifted and talented program kept my children challenged and the after school programming exposed them to a wide range of fun activities. As a parent it was comforting knowing that I was leaving my children at a school that truly supported their educational growth. Viva Zavala!

Our daughter is in 1st grade, and I am very pleased with the education level of the school. Everyone is very friendly and have been able to answer all of our questions quickly. We are very glad that we chose Zavala for our daughter.

Parents, Teachers and the Community have a strong partnership to build student academic achievement. Zavala Elementary School Teachers and Staff provide a family friendly environment and informs parents of meetings, events, one on one parents communication is very informative. My two nephews attend Zavala and I am very pleased with the education that they are receiving. My family has attended Zavala for over 40 years. They are a recognized school now and I since the new principal Mr. Fox has been there I have noticed my nephews succedd in their schoolwork. They are very happy now and are learning a lot since there is a lot less bullying going on. I was not sure if I was going to send my kids there, but now I am sure.
