  The instructors at the Maidu Institute are knowledgeable, dedicated and passionate in their positions as educators. Structuring towards the individual needs of their students and I was provided -not only- with the essential tools needed to graduated from Maidu, for college as well, earning my BA in Earth Science, Criminal Psychology, and Physical Geology in less than 10 yrs. If the students drive is towards obtaining realistic, obtainable goals, Maidu can help set you on the path towards achieving them, for is that not the point of Independent Studies? Giving the students the opportunity and ultimately the power in that option and the instructors are the guiding hands. In my experience they not only succeeded, they went beyond their positions and abilities available to them, they excelled!!!   Maidu does not offer all the academic programs that regular high schools offer, although they do offer their students the opportunity to spend time at other high schools to catch up. The staff can be amazing but some of them are rather ineffective and seem resigned to doling out work rather than making really sure that the students are succeeding. It is a lonely way to go through high school. The staff really do care, but the lack of equipment for labs, the lack of advanced math make it a somewhat mediocre offering. ...More Reviews
