E.V.Cain Charter Stem Middle School is a great school! As one of only three middle schools in the region from Colfax to Rocklin, E.V.Cain offers a comprehensive program that a K-8 school cannot compete with. This includes Honors' Classes, the widest possible range of electives from Beginning to Advanced Band, Community Service, two computer labs for classes, and a host of electives too numerous to mention here. The 6th grade science program-- spear-headed by Don Scott--has one of the finest science programs anywhere in Placer County, with numerous awards achieved by students in the acclaimed annual Science Fair. It's location next to the Placer County Library gives E.V. Cain students access to the material in the library, the ONLY middle school in Placer County next door to a county library! E.V. Cain offers 6-8 counseling services and a wider range of Special Education Services on campus, with which no K-8 school in the area can compare. The sports' programs at E.V. Cain are also outstanding, and since there are 500 students all in grades from 6-8 on ONE site, the sports' program is diversified offering students many different opportunities to compete and excel, especially since it has not ONE, but TWO gyms in which to practice. The wrestling program has long been a treasure with many students going on to Placer to dominate over other schools. E. V. Cain offers students a chance to experience multiple teachers during the school day, which is a huge benefit in preparation for high school. Teachers are sensitive to students' individual needs and understand the middle school child's need for guidance as well as increased responsibility in preparation for high school. E.V. Cain is an outstanding school, and in an era where districts cannot afford to host a middle school dedicated just to students from 6-8th grades, E.V. Cain offers a unique climate not found elsewhere. All five of my kids attended this school, and every one of them was well-prepared for high school where they all excelled thanks to the preparation they received here.

EV Cain Middle School is the only comprehensive middle school in the Auburn area and offers advanced classes (including Integrated math) and over 17 electives including advanced band, Service Club, art, etc. Student athletes play in the competitive FISAL athletic league. The Principal and Vice Principal, along with staff, are creating a positive and accountable school climate. Families choose this school to help prepare their students for high school (and beyond): students rotate through classes and learn to manage a schedule with multiple classes and teachers. Students from multiple district elementary schools attend classes together and have the opportunity to make new friends in a larger social setting. In the 23-24 school year, Alta Vista Community Charter School is joining the campus and adding grades TK-6.

The only reason I have given one star is that there was not a choice of 0. I am a Staff member in good standing, with that said I would and do not recommend anyone enrolling their child in this school with the current Administration (Board and Superintendent). The Teachers /Staff are extremely overworked, unsupported, frustrated, disrespected, and unappreciated. The unacceptable behaviors of a large number of students are not dealt with, these students are not held accountable for their actions.

This school is operated like a poorly ran prison!Kids are set up for failure and even much worse if their parents dare to request services or additional support.Do not recommend!

Absolutely terrible. Worst school my son has attended. If you want your child to experience bullying and issues with their mental health and depression this is the school for your child! Do NOT allow your child to attend school here, it was a terrible experience for my son. My son was going to outside counseling to deal with how he was being treated by other children and leadership at this school.

Extremely poor, Unfortunately there's no other option in Auburn if you have a middle school student, except for a private school.

It has been a real struggle having our boys here.If your student has learning differences that include behaviors this may not be the school for you.

Our daughter did well in this district throughout Elementary, however we have had many issues at EV Cain and find the administrators to be deceptive.Would appreciate more support from counseling and kinder surroundings for students.

We love Auburn and are so disappointed to be having to sell our home and leave the community due to issues with the schools. If your child has special needs I do not recommend this school.

Both our girls have struggled on this campus because of lack of accommodations for their inability to focus.

We have been VERY happy with the GATE (Gifted And Talented Education) available at this school. Our 6th grader has participated in excellent projects, challenging hands-on lab experiences, and interesting field trips. His class is already a full chapter ahead in the CPM math textbook than his peers attending another local middle school (Bo****) by the end of Trimester 1. The Band program is great -- the students participate in parades and concerts. Electives include computer programming, Photoshop, art, leadership, etc. Principal Cindy Giove is warm, energetic, and welcomes parent participation. We are soooo pleased that our child will be able to attend this fine school for the next three years.

EV Cain is a reasonably good school. As a seventh grader attending my second year, I can say that if your child is friends with the right people, they will do fine. There is some useage of drugs among a few of the more unfortunate students. Also, about 90 percent of students swear (I admit to being in said 90%) Teachers are good, excluding one or two who shall remained unnamed. Overall, I would suggest your child going to EV Cain, but be careful about him/her.

As parents we are extremely disappointed with this school. Unanswered emails, very little communication, and less than expected discipline when kids do not do as told. I could critique many areas from band to sports but I will not do a deep dive for this rating. We only wish we would have had more insight at the beginning of the school year. We were new to the community so we settled for the schools pitch at orientation. Not in one area has the staff backed up anything we were told in the beginning.
