My daughter just got pulled from the HS. From her perspective the N word is dropped considerably among students in class and halls. The student behind her called her white girl once. My daughter is white as is 85% of the school, so that was a tough one for her. Dad doesn't play that game. She was a A student mostly 1st through 6th grade at East Leroy. Got to this school in 7th and struggled ever since. E E C D- this last marking period. Back to virtual for us. Phones, drama and wanna beds abound at this school. Surprising to say the least.

Great school where respect and discipline are the core of everything they do. Students are really put first and there is a sense of community within the school and the town.

Test scores at this school are one of the highest in the county, they are nationally and state rank in education, no they don't have a swimming pool, no they don't have a soccer team, but what is it we send our kids to school for? Some may complain that they don't offer AP classes like most small schools they simply can't because of the numbers, but they do offer College courses through KCC and are part of the Battle Creek Area Math and Science Center, so if your kid does show higher apptitude in those areas there are courses available to them. Why parents don't look at the statistics before sending their kid to a big shiny new school is beyond me, looking at the educational facts provided by the MEAP and Mstep give no argument as to why you would choose a different School in the area.

The worse school district in the area- children with differences are told to find a different district and teachers become the bullies. Nothing is available at this school to help those who are different succeed- no remedial, no AP, no honors, and nothing to suit students with different interests.

AWSOME, I have 3 children in this school system, I could not ask for a better group of TEACHERS, they TRULY care about the students!!! There is not a better group from the Kindergarten to graduation!!! and BTW we have also had 4 EXCHANGE STUDENTS, all by our choice in our clean house and every single one of them has had a wonderful and fulfilling experience at ATHENS SCHOOL and would put in writing!!!

If you want your child to receive a good education from a small caring staff. Athens is the place to go. We school of choiced our children to Athens in 2011-2012 school year due to their consistant positive MEAP scores and we have not been disapointed. We have been well excepted by the community and my children have been involved in sports, band and extra caricular activities. The choices for electives is small as you find in almost any small school but the core classes more than prepair my children for college. The affiliation with the Battle Creek Math and Science Center is also a huge plus as well as the helpfulness of the school system to get the assistance to advance to college level classes that my daughter wanted to take at KCC as part of her senior year. We also have taken on a foriegn exchange student this year and found the program which runs through multiple schools all around the southern Michigan area to be very supportive and has been a wonderful support system for the families and students in the area. Overall this community and it's administration have been a wonderful experience for my family after some very poor experiences in other schools in the area.
