Both my children have attended Rockport and we love it.

My son attended Rockport his kindergarten year (2018-2019). Overall, it was a positive experience for him, and he made substantial academic progress. However, I was less than impressed with some of the staff and policies. My son loved his teacher, and I am thankful for that. I am less appreciative of the terrible attitudes displayed by other staff members. Despite my friendliness, the secretary was rude to me on multiple occasions. My primarily concern was how I saw students being treated though. When having lunch with my son, I witnessed the cafeteria staff treating students with terrible disrespect. I was also quite upset with some of their fundraising methods. During Santa's Workshop, many students were excluded because their parents did not send them with a couple of dollars. Depending on their teacher, they were either allowed to watch their classmates shop or asked to sit in the hallway. Those students were treated unfairly and I sympathized with them. Afterward, the proceeds were proudly announced in a news letter.Food vendors were allowed into the classroom during school hours. Kona Ice came at least 5 times that school year. It was the same situation, students without money were excluded. I have no idea how others were not as alarmed by this. It appears to me the principal knowingly allowed socioeconomic discrimination, and that is not a small allegation.

My son completed 2nd though 5th grade at Rockport Heights. He had been diagnosed with a disability and given an IEP. I can't say enough about the special instruction resources here. They are incredible: professional, effective, compassionate...FAR better than what we had received through Special School District while attending a Parkway school. The kids are great and the parents I've met have been wonderful too. My only complaint is the lack of diversity here and the staff's complete disregard and disrespect for non Christian families. There have been several very disappointing situations that were handled after bringing them to their attention but were completely inappropriate for a public school. Overall, its been a fantastic elementary school for us.

Rockport Heights Elementary School was an excellent choice for my granddaughter. She is truly blessed to have a teacher that sincerely wants her to learn. She also keeps the parents very well informed with a personal weekly "newsletter".
