Just chiming in to say these glowing reviews are still relevant. Glebe really is a great school- with experienced, dedicated teachers, a very active PTA, and incredibly devoted administration. The student body is very diverse, but the school seems to excel in fostering an inclusive environment that celebrates differences while also creating a close-knit, family- like environment. We're a lucky community to have it.

The best experience. We are an international family, the school gave us 100% academic and emotional support for our kids since the beginning. The principal is so nice and caring, and the teachers and staff too, they made my kids feel like home and they are always happy to go back to school. They received a high level of education, and the support in English for international students is amazing, my kids made a great progress during this year. I was not wrong to pick Arlington to live. Thank you Glebe Elementary!

Our son is entering 3rd grade and we couldn't be happier with Glebe, the teachers are excellent and the school is diverse and full of kids from everywhere in the world. We also love the effort the Extended Day staff put in to make after school and half days fun! We had an issue with one child bothering our kid and the principal, teacher and staff handled it quickly and kindly.

Our family couldn't be happier. Glebe was exactly the combination of socialization, academics, and community that we looked for. As a family with two working parents the extended day program is a life saver. I am shocked by the score given to the school by Great Schools, which seems to penalize Glebe because there is true diversity (economic, race, religion, and language) of students at the school. Schools, especially elementary schools with first time learners, can't be expected to completely fill the gap in achievement between learners who have spent years in formal pre-schools and those who may not have even been regularly read to at home.

We have been a Glebe family for seven years, with several more to go. We couldn't be happier with Jamie, Ingrid and the rest of the wonderful staff and teachers at Glebe. They are open, communicative and care greatly for the children

2nd year at Glebe and quite pleased with the staff and the Principal (kind & responsive). Don't love how fast the children are expected to eat lunch and that their teachers don't go with them to supervise or help. I think this is a county-wide occurrence though. LOVE that the gym teachers (and one other woman) greet the children at the door every morning, rain or shine. Very friendly school all around with an active PTA and lots of generous parents.

This is an amazing school with amazing principals, teachers, and staff. The effect on my son has been the most positive one his entire scholastic experience thus far. -Cat

This school has been a great experience for our child. The teachers and administrators have been fantastic. Very engaged and open communication in both directions. When we've had a problem, we've been able to talk to everyone from the teacher to the principal with no issue and everyone seems really committed to finding a solution. The parents are very involved with the school and obviously care so much about the school and teachers. We were skeptical about Glebe based on the Great Schools rating, but took a tour before putting an offer on a house that would fall in Glebe's district. After the tour we started looking at homes specifically in the Glebe zone. We could not be happier.

The teachers challenge the students and generally care about their well-being. The principal is very open to comments as well as criticism. The school is racially and economically diverse. The students interact with the kids in the functional life skills program that have severe disabilities and learn so much about empathy and understanding.

We moved to Arlington from out of state this past summer and transferred our 4th grader into Glebe Elementary. During the house hunting process I was concerned that Glebe had a lower Great School score than some of the other elementary schools in Arlington. My daughter and I took a tour of the school with the friendly and helpful principal which calmed my worries. 4th grade at Glebe has been a great experience for my child and I would not hesitate to recommend the school. The teachers and staff are caring and engaged, the school is a real part of the community, and the students have been welcoming and friendly.

After nearly finishing one year at Glebe, I can say that we've had a terrific experience. My son's first grade teacher is incredibly understanding, the principal is always available to talk, and the gifted teacher has really inspired him. The school has adequate resources in terms of math and reading coaches, the faculty seem to work as a team, and the grounds are well kept. The PTA provides great support and there seem to always be community building activities going on.
