- Submitted by parent on April 27, 2022Our experience at Fire Mountain School was horrible. Neither the teachers nor the parents had the experience necessary to successfully run mixed age classes. Students were left for hours unsupervised in the forest where older children regularly bullied younger children. Several children and their parents reported this problem. This was an ongoing problem that the parent administrator ignored and hid from parents. The bullying culture at FMS has been prevalent since the school reopened (after it was closed for embezzlement) according to past parents. The school culture unfortunately does not include an academic focus. The younger class repeats the same curriculum every year even when students are in the class for multiple years. There is no focus on reading skills and according to local elementary school teachers most students graduate FMS without necessary reading skills. The local school has to run a remedial reading class for Fire Mountain students when they integrate into public school. The school runs more like a day care with a parent social club than it does a school. Do your kids an educational favor and send them elsewhere.
