This school is a great environment for children to learn and grow with teachers and principal who truly care about the kids.

The school is safe and the academics are fine. The problem at this school is the blatant favoritism shown by the staff towards particular students. In my sons fifth grade graduating class ( which consists of only two classrooms) the same children were selected the entire school year for each and every award, music event and lead roles in the 5th grade play and more. The awards ranged from academic, physical fitness leadership, kindness, musical talent, etc. The same 4-5 children received each and every one of them although there were many children whose conduct, musical abilities, sports accomplishments and academics were just as good and in some cases better than those selected. Mind you, these same 4-5 children all had leads in the school play. Four of them also were also given the only roles in the fourth grade Winter Concert where fifth graders appeared. It is widely believed that the music teacher, who is notoriously mean is behind much of this. Make sure to buy her lots of Christmas gifts if you want your kid included! This was all very hurtful to my child and several other bright, kind hard-working and talented children whom we know. It got to the point of being down-right shameless and I am surprised that the parents of these children were not embarrassed by the lack of class and fairness. I intend to move out of this district ASAP. I won't expose my children to these people or their horrible example any longer than I have to!

A school that feels like home. What a great place to come to work every day. The kids are wonderful, the parents are amazingly supportive and the faculty and staff strive to be the the best every day.

Typical small town school. Small setting, huge bias and specially a mentality that make my grandmother's years too " modern". If you like antiques, welcome to Altamont medieval School! If you are a test taker, like teachers who act like robots, and parents who won't say hi to you, tthat's the school for you.
