I have a 7th grader here. What surprise me is their academic grading system(C is a passing grade & she is allow to make up…….hmmmmmm) Kids here have no homework, they basically focus so much on basketball, soccer, volleyball…etc, hearing her wanna be a athletes with a mediocre grade(GE- breaks my heart) I am native Alamedian(Lum school Alumni), I knew my multiple chart by 2-3rd grade. Now they can’t do simple math with hesitation. She only knows about Snapchat, social media & hanging around the island with friends all day. We tried educating her, her response would be… school didn’t require/assigned, speechless!

Overall this school is better than the majority of the middle schools in the bay area. I appreciate the amount of options for different electives that generally help like learning languages and different skills. The Pe teachers do a great job teaching each seasonal sport with tactics that will help students in the future. What i do NOT like about this school is the amount of unnecessary rules that are set. The Lms staff and principals are not very good at tolerating with kids behavior and don’t take some situations seriously or wont hear a student out in a situation when they get in any sort of trouble. It is very rare for any sort of physical fight to go down in this school which says a lot about promoting the safety in Lincoln Middle. They promote equality by making school clubs for every race, gender, and religion, but i notice that there is a majority of just white students and asian students. As a former student that currently goes to lincoln, there is definitely lots of name callings, social media posts, and rumors that go around about people. But the Lincoln middle school staff does its best to prevent it by educating people in our weekly leadership advisories. Overall i can generally recommend this school to any student who is moving to alameda/thinking about a change of schools.

My son just graduated from LMS last year. When he started he was just average but with the encouragement of his math and science teachers, he ended up with a perfect 4.0 GPA and a science achievement award. He is now talking about trying to go in to medicine and wants to get in to an Ivy League school. I would highly recommend LMS, the teachers and students for any young teen that wants to get a great head start on life!

This school is not great for Black students for your student will be one of two or the only black student in the class room. The way that the school handles black students when they get in trouble is noticeably different than a White student

Lincoln is a great school. The new principal along with the veteran assistant principal have a vision for inclusion and excellence for all students. The teachers are experienced and dedicated to mentoring, educating and inspiring students. The large, diverse student body means there's a friend group for everyone, and clubs and leadership student-driven activities means there's a wide variety of non-academic opportunities for engagement too. While no school is perfect, Lincoln Middle has been wonderful for our family.

I came into this school as an 8th grader from another AUSD middle school, it was hard to acclimate and few resources were offered to new students. Other than this I found the workload reasonable and the academics far better than that of other middle schools. While the school makes an effort there is not a significant culture there, but the kids are nice and the teachers are very good. Honestly, the academics push this school a little above average, other than that there's not many trips or events, barely any clubs, and no unity at this school. It's not an exciting place but my experience was far preferable to that at other AUSD schools. If your child has a desire to go here or friends who will be going, I think it's worth it and they can have a fine experience.

My second daughter is currently attending this school. I pulled my first daughter from Lincoln in seventh grade due to bullying problems with the boys - not the girls, as one might expect. I did not feel that the school was a welcoming place then, and the behavior of many of the students left much to be desired. Now that we have tried one of the local charter schools instead of Lincoln, I can say unreservedly that the academics at Lincoln FAR surpass what is on offer at other locations. The peer group is very well prepared and the teachers overall are good to excellent. There are some bad eggs, but the administration knows who they are and is doing its best to ameliorate the harm that they cause. My second daughter’s homework load has been quite reasonable, and her teachers are excellent. She also had an incident with a boy and this time I was far happier with the school’s response. I think that the administration is working hard to make Lincoln a friendlier place and its work is paying off.The band program is truly excellent and a wonderful way for your child to experience the school. The teacher, although very demanding, really seems to have a knack for determining what a student will be good at and getting the best work possible out of them. I have an elementary-aged son in a private school, and I have to say that Lincoln comes as close as possible to delivering a private school education with its more limited resources. Overall, we are very happy at Lincoln.

Lincoln has the strongest academic program of all the public schools in Alameda and maybe a better program than the private schools as well. Teachers work hard to meet the needs of a diverse range of students. The plethora of electives that are offered make it overall a great experience for kids.

This school is stuck in the 20th century, and many of the teachers teach like it. The math and science department are weak ( save 2-3 teachers). My student was not taught common core in a meaningful way in 7th grade....a lot of busy work.

The abnormally large amount of homework at LMS is only one problem among the many great experiences you're destined to have here. 10/10 would go again

I have had 3 students at Lincoln Middle School. Overall a good experience. Some outstanding teachers that have really positively influenced my students. There are a small number of unmotivated teachers, but they are in the minority. Administration is strong and engaged. Good diversity of clubs/programs/classes. I had one child attend the Bridge program, an integrated program for kids with learning disabilities; very well structured and served my ADHD child well. Large student body best serves kids who can self-advocate and are relatively independent.

My daughter attending in this school since 6th grade, and she is 7th grade now. I can only say this school is sucks! Principal and teachers are keep replacing since she was in 6th grade, and at least more than 7 principal replaced already. Never have field trip or outside activity from school. Communication between school and Guardian is not enough. Be aware of this school

im a 6th grade at LMS and i love it there. the school is probably best. the school has classes fit for everyone! you could be in band or wheel. wheel if made of different classes that you switch around in every 6 weeks. there's drama, french, art, etc. For band you try different instruments and you get chosen to play an instrument that's best for you to play. there's trombone, flute, sax, clarinet, percussion(drums/xylophone) and trumpet. the class isn't hard at all. i play trumpet and its fun! the school has dances, fundraisers, assemblies and other fun events happening the time. at the amp ( a hangout area for everyone) sometimes there will be small events happening at lunch. there could be a lost 'nd found fashion show, a music event or even a gaming event! its a great school, i really recommend this school for everyone.

I love this school, really, I do. I'm am a 7th grade student going there right now, and I love how that I can advance to Algebra if I want to, if not, or if Algebra's too hard, I can just take course 2. There are some downsides though, 1. Some of the teachers are MEAN, I've never had one of those teachers, but you'll know, you'll know. 2. Some of the students are annoying/mean/rude, and no one has been trying to stop them. On the bright side, there are amazing things about this school too! 1. Fun core teachers, there's plenty of them! 2. Outgoing, Friendly kids, it's not hard at all to make friends here! 3. The lunch is actually good unlike other schools :P 4. HUGE library and field There's one thing I'll never really get over though, it's the fact that they took away our school snack bar. It's not that I want to become obese and stuff myself with snacks, it's just that when I need to stay in a classroom to retake a test that I miss, it'd be nice to be able to go out and buy a cookie or a bag of chips so I won't be hungry at least. The cafeteria closes at around 12:00, and lunch lasts from 11:37 - 12:15, 11:32- 12:13 on Wednesdays.
