Lenawee Christian School - Toxic, Hypocritical, and Emotionally DamagingAs a freshly graduated senior, I feel it’s important to share my experience at Lenawee Christian School to warn others. I’ve attended private Catholic schools my entire life and never had any issues—until I stepped foot in Lenawee Christian. My one year there as a freshman ruined private school for me. The environment was so toxic and damaging that my parents decided to pull me out and enroll me in public school, where I’ve had a much better experience. Knowing many of the same teachers and staff are still there, I feel compelled to speak up because these issues are still very much relevant. At first glance, the school seemed great. Everyone was friendly, and it looked like the staff had everything under control. I fell for that lie—completely. Beneath the polished exterior, the administration and teachers aggressively pushed their version of Christianity, using fear to control students. They frequently invaded extremely personal topics that should never be addressed outside of a health class in a school setting. For instance, teachers would openly discuss masturbation, sex, and birth control, claiming that engaging in any of these would condemn students to hell. Regardless of your personal beliefs, this kind of invasive and judgmental rhetoric has no place in the classroom. Schools are meant to be a space for learning, not for shaming or judging students based on their personal lives. These discussions were inappropriate, excessive, and crossed every boundary of what’s acceptable in an educational environment. As a Catholic, I was told by both teachers and classmates that I wouldn’t go to heaven. This is a “non-denominational” school, yet they openly mocked my faith and made me feel unwelcome. The staff? Absolutely no help. They’re unqualified, unprofessional, and love to stir up drama by getting involved in students’ personal lives. They play favorites, ignore serious issues, and refuse to take accountability when problems arise. If you’re being bullied or mistreated, don’t expect the staff to care—they’ll just sweep it under the rug.The students are just as bad. With only about 30 kids in my grade, it felt suffocating. Everyone knows your business, and they won’t hesitate to say horrible things about you, both behind your back and to your face. The school has fostered a culture where mean-spirited behavior thrives, and no one steps in to stop it.

The school is ever-loving and the teachers are prayerfully loving the students. The administrators are concerned with what is best for the students but still maintain professionalism.

As a student who used to attend this school me and my friends have experienced a load of transphobia and homophobia (including people telling me to off myself, slurs, etc.) I know that homosexuality and being transgender is not okay according to the bible I do still believe that this has to be addressed. one of my friends told me they went to one of the staff at the beginning of the year informing that students were saying slurs against homosexuality, but they still have not done anything about it, keep in mind that this has been going on for years and is not a new problem. another thing is that there is a lot more homework than a lot of other schools and when I went there it was very stressful and overwhelming. i do still believe that there should still be a decent amount of homework though. a good thing about this school is they have nice teachers who care about you and talk with you which is nice. the learning experience is good too, I have learned lots of things from this school.

Our two kids went here for 13+ years each including preK. Our experience has been that sending our kids here was the best decision we made. From a loving and involved staff to other parents that want a quality education for their kids, I think you can’t find a better environment for your kids. Our kids were fully prepared for college and had no problems transitioning to public 4 year colleges and earning their respective degrees with little drama. I would venture that the lessons learned at LCS gave us comfort that our kids would make good decisions once out of the house and this has held true. Now 15+ years past graduation they are productive members of society who make contributions toward a better society.

We've had an exceptional experience at LCS. The school is solidly Christian and does a great job to communicate to us as parents. We feel like LCS is an extension of our family.

As a former student, I don’t recommend. I had a terrible experience that led to me transferring schools when it could not be resolved. I was not treated in a fair or Christian manner in my opinion. There’s definitely better schools out there. When I attempted to disagree in a calm manner with the school recently, they chose to block me on their Facebook page rather than have a discussion. The way this school treated me over the years has left a lasting impact on me and I would never send my child there. When a Christian entity acts in this way, it pushes people away from the church.

It's been a great experience for us at LCS. We've been here for going-on four years and have experience with other school districts in three states. LCS is by far one of the best schools we have ever encountered.

We sent four of our children to LCS. We tried to partner with them in our children's education. Any problems and help that was needed was only given lip service. They refused to reach out a hand and help with problems we were having. The administration and high school teachers were horrible and unwilling to help us. When they discovered we were pulling out students, they scrambled trying to right all their wrongs. Too little, too late.

I have sent 4 students to this outstanding school. If you are looking for a faith based, quality education consider LCS. This school has produced an amazing group of quality alumni, super high achievers and individuals with high character. This school is an incredible community asset. Lenawee County is very lucky to be home to this learning institution.

During my time at Lenawee Christian School, I was given the opportunity not to learn what to think but how to think. I believe that my time at LCS taught me how to better interact with the Bible, other people, and every day situations in light of and inspired by my relationship with God. The teachers were caring and allowed for pushback from students who desired to learn and work through the material. They came alongside those students that needed help with the work and were available to the student body. LCS impacted my life in a huge way by allowing me to see my potential and the steps needed to get there. Great school with a great community and a place where I learned about and met with God.

When my kids started attending LCS last year I had neutral expectations. The enrollment process was great, but I know the reality of the classroom can be a far cry from what is experienced in the admissions office. Thankfully, my kids experienced a fantastic year. By their own admission my kids enjoy going to school. Their teachers are competent and caring. Whenever an issue has come up the lines of communication have been very open. I love that LCS strives to find the balance between building a child's academic abilities and building their character. The addition of a middle school principle this year was perfect timing as I have two kids in that category now.

When my high school aged student approached me about attending LCS I was rather reluctant. It turned out to be the best decision we made for her. I have watched her come out of her shell with an increase of confidence. She has always been strong in her faith but I have watched her continue to flourish. Seeing the positive impact on her, my other high school student came to us and asked if she could transfer as well. We didn t hesitate! Similar to my oldest LCS continued to define its competitive advantage as I can say it too was the best decision we made by allowing her to attend. We have since transferred our middle school student who is now happier than ever. She feels more challenged academically than her previous middle school. In addition, I m proud to see that she is starting to gain strength in her faith and engaging in more in faith based conversation. I couldn't imagine another school being any better!

Starting with preschool, they frequently scare young children with visions of hell and the devil. My child could not sleep. They also fuel intolerance of other religions, non-religious people and gay people. My children attended for 2 years, during which time I was hit up 6 times about LIFE BUSINESS mlm schemes.... selling leadership / ministry. Nice facilities, but atmosphere is truly toxic and brainwashing.
