Washington Grade Center has been a wonderful school for my 3rd grader. She brings home ample work showing her progress, what is being taught, and all content is age-appropriate learning. She is encouraged to read often and has a wonderful teacher. This teacher has not only taught required learning but also includes valuable life skills into her classroom. Children learn about finance, simple budgeting, spending, saving etc. through their classroom "Neighborhood". They have "jobs" where they learn responsibility and management skills. The teachers, staff, and support staff are all incredible. Ms. Wilkins, the principal, is amazing. The school has Monday morning meetings with kiddos in a group setting, they teach and lead by example the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, the hallways are clean and inviting. Washington is a safe school. Doors remained securely locked, and visitors must check in with a state-issued photo ID. Washington schools have the best school resource officers who not only keep the kids and faculty safe but know each kid by name. These resource officers are involved in the classroom by reading to students or filling in gaps where needed. 10/10 I would recommend Washington Grade Center.

My son transferred across country mid year of 2013. I was concerned that such a big move would be a difficult transition in school. On his first day, my son and I were met with friendly faces from teachers, staff and the principal, Ms. Martin. After school, he came home to tell me he had made 28 friends in school. What a great relief! Beyond the warm community there was a drive to further his education. His teacher, Ms. Henderson, challenged him and supported us while he finished out his year there. I appreciate this team of caring professionals greatly. I hope that others have an opportunity to enjoy this wonderful school.

I have been very sad about the poor quality of the staff of Washington. My son was in Hays last year and we were very proud to be part of the Ada School System. Before starting washing ton my wife and I was told very bad things about the staff the security of the building and the overall experience other have had. We felt that it could just be due to the size of the school and foolishly when kids started transferring (10 from my son s class) we stayed thinking it would get better. We are now at the point we are looking to transfer to ANY school but due to the number of transfers we have not found one in the area taken children. Take my advice!!! DO NOT LET YOUR CHILD ATTEND THIS SCHOOL!!!!

The transformation in this school over the past few years is amazing. The principal is amazing and wants only the best for the students and it shows. Her feelings are absolutely contagious and the teachers and staff reflect it. The combination of the principal and counselor is the great. They are full of new ideas and the drive to make necessary changes. The teachers reflect this. Of course there are some teachers there that need to retire but isn't that the case everywhere? I will be sad when my child is on to the next grade center- Willard. The principal makes parents not only feel welcomed but needed. I cannot say enough about this school!
