Bucktown is a neighborhood in
Chicago which is part of Lincoln Square. It is located northwest of the Loop and just north of the neighborhood of Wicker Park. This neighborhood is an excellent choice for young professionals, families with children, older residents.
Reputation
Bucktown is known for its historic streets and old buildings. Once part of the Polish Downtown, the neighborhood of Bucktown was originally named for the high number of goats that were raised in the area during the 19th century. This neighborhood is mainly residential, but you will still find businesses scattered throughout the area. Like most of Chicago, this neighborhood is also densely populated.

Bucktown is home to an expansive shopping district. You will also find a number of restaurants in this area, including En Hakkore, the Bento Box, Belly Shack, the Bristol and many more. For people who are interested in an active nightlife, the neighborhood boasts plenty of bars, lounges and nightclubs.
Convenience
Because Bucktown is densely populated and part of one of the largest cities in the nation, many people who live in this neighborhood choose to walk from one place to another when traveling within the neighborhood itself. When traveling outside of the neighborhood, residents of Bucktown can also use the Chicago Transit Authority's Blue Line or the bus. That being said, more than 60 percent of residents in this neighborhood still own a car for traveling longer distances, especially if they must commute to work outside of Bucktown.
