Located some 20 miles west of Austin, Lake Travis is the sole high school within the Lake Travis Independent School District. The performance of its academics and athletics teams during the 2011-2012 school year earned Lake Travis a prestigious University Interscholastic League Lone Star Cup, awarded to just five Texas high schools annually. The Texas Education Agency, meanwhile, declared the school “exemplary” based on its 2009-2012 stretch. And in 2011, the school’s football team, the Cavaliers, won its fifth consecutive University Interscholastic League title—a state record.
Besides standard coursework, sports, and music, students find a diverse number of programs available through Lake Travis High School, whether it’s wading into journalism via the Cavaliver Chronicle, participating in the venerable Future Farmers of America (FFA), honing their oratorical and rhetorical skills through the Lake Travis Speech and Debate Team, or getting involved with community service via CAVS. In 2014, better than a quarter of Lake Travis High School's senior class contributed more than 100 hours to such service work.The school hosts more than 35 different clubs, presenting a rich lineup of extracurricular pursuits to pupils.
