1. Hutto

As Austin continues to grow at a rapid rate, the population in this small city is expected to double in size over the next few years. With a great location of 28 miles from the city center, Hutto gives you plenty of separation from the city while still allowing easy access to all of Austin’s cool amenities.

2. Leander

Another quickly growing suburb of Austin, Leander is great for commuting downtown, with its own Capital MetroRail Red Line stop and several express bus lines. Plus, new families seem to love it here, with a high population of married residents and 9 percent of the population under the age of five.

3. Kyle

However, if you do have kids, the area is home to some of the best schools in the area, making this a great place to raise a family, too.

7. Lakeway

Nestled on the banks of Lake Travis, Lakeway is often called an exurb, a commuter town that’s beyond the main urban center of downtown Austin. The biggest attraction here is the lake, with a surface area of nearly 19,000 acres and a max depth of over 200 feet.

8. The Hills

A tiny town of only a couple thousand residents, The Hills is a village that’s located 16 miles west of downtown via the Southwest Parkway. 9. Round Rock

We then averaged these scores and ranked all 26 before featuring the top 10 cities on our list of the 10 best Austin suburbs for young couples. Cost of living data was sourced from AreaVibes, amenities data from business listings, and the rest of the data from the 2013 U.S. Census American Community Survey.
