School Overview
John H. Reagan Early College High School is part of the Austin Independent School District. It first opened in 1965, and it is named after the U.S. Senator John Henninger Reagan. This school serves grades 9 through 12. A little over 1,000 students are currently enrolled, and they are served by approximately 80 faculty members.
Many of the students at this school take Advanced Placement (AP) courses. In fact, nearly half of all students are enrolled in at least one AP class. Although the school offers advanced academic courses for its students, only 18 percent of students qualify as proficient in mathematics and only 30 percent of students qualify as proficient in English. In addition to its academic program, John H. Reagan High School also offers a comprehensive athletic program, as well as plenty of other clubs and extracurricular activities for students.
What Parents Are Saying
“It is a fine school, with fine teachers, some things could stand some improvement, but my daughter wouldn't have traded Reagan for any other school in the district."
"My son had a great 4 years at Reagan despite all the neg things said about the school. I think Reagan is a great school, you are the one that makes it better by how much time you put into working at you kids school and getting to the staff and kids there. You will find that it is not what you expected."
"I was hesitant to send my freshman daughter to Regan High School due to their reputation and media reviews. However, starting on the first day I was pleasantly surprised that all my fears were laid to rest. There were so many administrators on hand with so much information ranging from college paths, to simply just guiding us to our next step of my child's enrollment. Since then my daughter has taken all that Reagan has to offer and using it to her advantage."
"Great school. Principal seems to be doing a good job trying to bring up student morale and school TAKS scores."
