I moved #1 because of said school district. As my child as move through school beginning in Northwestern grade K I have increasingly become disappointed. Is it better than most EBR schools, the answer is yes. But the teachers and substitutes at Zachary Elementary that I have interacted with are very abrasive in how they speak with parents and kids on a frequent. The principal patronizing techniques with overbearing undertones to communicate. I guess the teachers get their ways from her. Honestly I don't think we will make it it to Copper Mill - I hear it's even worse. The juice is not worth the squeeze- I'll be looking into private school or home schooling my child.

This school is AWFUL! Since the assistant principal switched schools, this school has gone down hill FAST! My daughter has been Assualted by another student and I wasn't informed. Students are constantly stealing from my child and teachers and staff blame her saying "you must have lost it or you shouldn't have that away".Think twice before you move to zachary just for the "number one school district " rating!!

I have a 5 kids in Zachary schools. My eldest is a 12th grader at Zachary high who has attended school in Zachary since kindergarten. 4 of my 5 are Awesome students, test high on standardized test and NO behavior problems but 1 feel behind and it wasn't until this happened that I saw this school districts TRUE COLORS. Everything he does even forgetting his belt he's suspended. He does not make the grades or bring in those HIGH TEST SCORES so they have been trying to get me to send him to their alternative school outside city limits. Me not agreeing seems to have put a target on his back. He's been bullied, jumped by a group of boys and came home with serious injuries but no-one knew a thing about him being picked on but if he wears the wrong color socks they see that and he's punished for it. I'd rate this school a 2 and this district would get a 0 if it were an option.

We chose Zachary to purchase our home in 2008 because the ZCSD is ranked number 1 in the state. Since then my kids have attended five of the six "grade cluster" schools in our district. I can say without hesitation that Zachary is number one for a reason! We have been extremely pleased with the teachers and staff at all of the schools. Our kids love to learn and love their schools.

We recently moved to Zachary from West Baton Rouge because of the schools. I am so impressed with the dedication & devotion of the entire staff at ZES. All of the personnel are committed to the students & their learning. I'm also impressed by the ILeap packets that are sent home to help the students prepare for the testing months before. In the past at our previous school in WBR they started cramming the information on the kids a few weeks before the test. Zachary's method really helps the children to become more familiar with the testing format so they can maximize their potential on the tests over time instead of stressing them out weeks before the test.
