Attended school here from k-12 and later taught here for seven years. Great experience and great teachers/administration. Was well prepared for college, 28 ACT, had several Presidential Scholarship award winners during my time there. Many of my classmates and former students have gone on to have very successful and rewarding lives. A++

Poor quality education. Not sure where or how they got blue ribbons. It is deceptive that this school is labeled a christian school...that was not our experience. No diversity. No fine arts. Building is in poor repair and dirty. Drive to demopolis or relocate if you want quality education. Focus is on sports not books. School offered a good education many years ago but in recent years it is simply a way to keep white kids in separate school. Don't be fooled by the blue ribbons this school doesn't compare to what it takes to get a blue ribbon in a public school. ACT scores tell the real story. Shocking! Most of the students don't graduate from college because they are not prepared for college and most of them attend local college so they can get grades given to them instead of earning them. Disgrace that the parents sacrifice their children's education just to continue that school.

Good morning, Is this a segregated school? Everytime i see a story in the Record Journal all the pictures contain Caucasian people. SMH

Sumter Academy is full of bully's. The teachers are not heald accountable for what happens in their classroom when bullying takes place. If your child has ADd or ADHD or any other learning disability, the forget about sending your child to SA. Teachers there only teach cookie cutter children and do NOT have a clue as to how to teach a child with special needs. They do not allow wheel chair children to attend. They have problems keeping teachers at the school. The classes are small so if your child is not accepted into the little group, the you are bullied. It is a very sad little school and i do not recommend this school. No band, little offer academically, and even though classes are small, teachers do not give special needs children personal attention. Believe me we went there and left. We paid tuition for 12 mounths and had to put up with our child being bullied. He started public school and had no problems with being bullied, at all. His grades improved and was able to go to technology school while attending middle and high school in another Alabama county.
