The Gilbert school looks the other way when students are being bullied or harassed and there is no extreme punishment when bullying is being involved. I think that the teachers should be circulating around the classroom that way the bulling problems would be nicked in the butt. I thought that this school did not look away when a student is bulling another student.

The Gilbert School is a semi private school that has a student exchange program. It is wonderful to bring a different culture to our community so that the students have the chance share their education with others from abroad. The board members strive to keep The Gilbert School current with education and technology. The faculty help the students both socially and with their education. It's a great school with great people.

They offer Latin and mandarin to middle schoolers. All of the teachers really care and take their jobs seriously. My son is so happy at this school. Definitely a bright light in Winsted.

Wow is this school changing for the better, an entirely new administrative team has been hired and they are amazing (2012)! A storm of change is brewing with strong, brilliant and visionary leadership. I have a middle schooler and high school aged child attending and because the student population is small they are getting personalized attention. The student body is close knit and kids look out for one another. Environment is very positive and caring, teachers easy to contact and communicative, showing true kindness and concern for kids. Academic achievement is a strong focus for administration and expectations of students has markedly changed in the past year. Still room for improvement, but lots of plans are in the making. I am so pleasantly surprised to find this gem in a town which has had issues in the past. I would highly recommend to a student looking for a small school experience.
