I have been a student at this school for a while and i have noticed that there's a rampant bullying problem that the teachers barely glance at. It also doesn't help that most of the school population is christian or another form of christianity as a gay Jewish student. I have been called some anti-semitic and homophobic things from students that have been glossed over by staff. The only safe place in this school is with my fellow LGBT peers and the very few ally teachers.

graduated from winamac with honors but i still didnt learn much. a good amount of the staff are just people they hired on because theyre from the town. the select few teachers in the combined middle and high school building who are able to teach are stuck without students because their classes are considered too "high level" for the general school population. because of the disproportionate education a lot of the kids are getting, teachers are flooded with students during certain classes. i know that the 10th grade english teacher, as smart and able to teach as he is, is stuck with a sweaty classroom with nearing 30 students. the art teacher, although i love her, tries to tell the kids not to say god or jesus christ because of her religious views; her mother when helping her to prepare for school one year also put crosses with oil on the bottom of the stools in that class. this school struggles to separate between religion and basic knowledge, its embarrassing to say i graduated from here. because it is a poor community as well, even people who are like i was an try their hardest to succeed and be smart will end up struggling once they leave that school and town. this school is also so incredibly cliquish that it hurt; i was bullied and no one cared because my family wasnt from that town. unless your family is from that town, you are going to end up an outcast.

I love our school system and think the staff is great! Their focus is on academics and not just sports like some area schools.
