With regards to 1st grade: School is more like an awful daycare for big kids, and not a good one. There is a lot of chaos, yelling and running around by kids, in turn causing lots of yelling from teachers. Every time I have been there to an event kids are incredibly rude and disrespectful, loud and completely inattentive. The ratings on here are clearly correct. They don't have any time to actually assist children that learn by being shown and having things explained and examples given. They just tell them to do something and leave them to figure it out and some get lost and scared in this black hole.

Focused and yet lenient approach from both teach staff & admin. School has consitently rated tops in community and federal review.Deservedly so.

My grandchild has a mental disability and this school is not providing him with any kind of help. The school administrators just suspended him and told his mother that he could not return to school until the doctor stated what was wrong with him. By the way, the problem had already been determined from his prior 2 years at Willamina. The boy was in the special needs classes 2 years prior, but the school felt that he did not need this. The administrators would not listen to the mother, disability services, or the child advocate. So they just placed him in main stream classes which causes him to get frustrated and saying that he is a bad child. I know that there are lots of other children who go to Willamina, but that is what special needs is for. If this school does not know about special needs, or other special schools that could help him, I think THE SCHOOL needs some re-education. This makes me feel that the Willamina is being prejudice against children with disabilities. Hopefully, the superintendent might read this and make some administrator changes or get them some education about disabilities. There is a lot more involved in this particular incident, but the school could be more flexible for children with special needs.

Nice people, cultural diversity, involved community, strong women role models in administration and a very nice building and location.
