Beware of this school. We couldn't wait to get our child out of this school. The kids seemed miserable. The parents seemed miserable. Just a depressing environment for any child. The school is overall very secretive, not welcoming or family like at all. Stupid minor rules and requirements yet policies and resources that they should have in place do not exist. Discrimination and bullying very much does exist. Some teachers have childlike behaviors. The system is light years behind socially and financially. There are a couple of teachers that are making a difference and I hope they move on the somewhere they can shine soon. They will tell you lies for enrollment and not deliver.

The school itself is good. However, the principal needs to be replaced with a qualified principal. She is not a fair person. If she doesn’t like an employee she won’t give them the time of day. She did a horrible job atlaying off personnel back in 2021. Of course she kept her favorites and let go some good people. She let the librarian go due to financial reasons but turned around and hired someone to replace her. She let classroom aides go and is using Jon Peterson aides in their place. JP aides are to be focusing on IEP students, not hanging papers in the hallway. I hope the parent group can find a way to have her replaced.

This school prepared me so well for high school, especially in math. I took Algebra 1 my 8th-grade year and tested into a combined class of Geometry and Algebra 2 at one of the best high schools in the area. The teachers are fantastic and really care about your growth. Even in high school, the teachers at Mater Dei are better than in high school and that is a rare occurrence. I couldn't have asked for a better elementary and middle school experience.

Mater Dei Academy, an Ohio Department of Education STEM-designated school, offers an excellent education from preschool through 8th grade. In this ever-changing world, our students are prepared for the next steps in their education and through community engagement, students look for ways to give back and become active participants in their neighborhoods. Religion (Roman Catholic) is part of our daily curriculum, with art, music, technology, physical education and Spanish being offered weekly. Active parent groups (PTU and CYO Boosters) welcome and encourage new families through sports, family nights, and social activities. Mater Dei has a full-time intervention specialist on staff and a school psychologist and speech therapist three days per week. Financial aid is available for those who qualify.

Mater Dei has been a wonderful school for our children. They have attended since preschool, and our oldest is now in high school. The academics are amazing and our high school student was so well prepared for the challenging school he was accepted into. The teachers at Mater Dei are fantastic and they truly care about the whole student - academically, socially, and spiritually. I love that manners and values are taught along with religion. If I ever have a concern about anything, it is addressed in a timely manner to my satisfaction.

I currently have three children at Mater Dei. I am happy with their experience. All three score above average on their state tests. They have grown and are growing into disciplined, caring, and smart children. Mater Dei has supported my values as a parent, and focus on what’s really important for children growing up today. The principle has been really responsive when I’ve had to reach out with any questions or concerns. My children look forward to going to school everyday, and that says a lot to me. They are happy, and thriving in this school.

Having 3 children and my 4th starting next year here also I could not be more happy with the education provide. I feel the education they have received has been outstanding. The staff have always made me feel they truly care for the well being of my children. I love the structure in the classroom. My husband and I believe in Catholic education. Their experience in a faith based atmosphere I feel will help them throughout life.

Mater Dei Academy is a school like no other. Their teachers are supportive, caring and go out of their way to meet each individual student's needs. When I compare the education that my older two children received in public education vs. my two younger children received in a Catholic school, it really was not much of a comparison. My younger children are challenged each and every day and have gained so much more knowledge than my older two ever did. The school, faculty/staff, parents and students are like one huge family, always helping and supporting our school. The students experience a wide variety of activities both during and after school.

I have 3 kids attendings MDA. My children have all enjoyed an excellent education. The teachers are easy to work with and the parents are actively involved in the school including PTU and Boosters. My oldest takes 9th grade level courses and has established a strong core in math achievement , reading/comprehension, and quantitative math that has allowed her to score exceptionally well on OLSAT, HSPT, and ISEE tests for local Catholic High Schools. The school prepares you well for the next level.

Our experience has been excellent, the teachers work very hard with the students. Having the students attend weekly mass is a big plus for us.

Unfortunately, this school has gone through a rough transition during a rough pandemic. The teachers truly care about the students and work hard at their jobs. Despite the cuts for this past school year due to budget issues, the teachers have worked hard to overcome their struggles. Students are being given an opportunity to do well and work hard.

We transferred our two children to Mater Dei Academy (MDA) three years ago because we wanted them to have a more challenging curriculum and to be able to learn in a calm, quiet environment. The parents and students at MDA were very welcoming to our family. Our children are learning more and the environment is much more orderly than what they were experiencing at their former school. I am very impressed with the quality of teachers at Mater Dei Academy. For example, one teacher contacted me to let me know she noticed a change in my child's behavior from being an active participant in class to quiet and disconnected, and she took steps to help him. If she had not contacted me, I would not have known about the issue. Another teacher tutored my child after school without even being asked to do so. Another teacher has inspired my child to push herself beyond her comfort zone and try new things. I could go on and on about the wonderful teachers at MDA. I also appreciate that all levels of learners are supported at MDA since the school has several different types of aides to give extra assistance to students and they also offer advanced language arts and math to students who are learning above their grade level.

This used to be a great school. That has changed in the last couple of years. The school is deeply in debt and unlikely to remain open more than a couple of years. Programs have continuously been cut. The principal refuses to listen to science concerning the pandemic. No gym teacher, no real specials teacher. This past year they raised tuition while cutting staff and classes offered.

This school is completely mismanaged by the current administration. They cut the majority of the teachers, classes, and activities. They don’t even have a gym teacher anymore. The current principal is teaching 8th grade science, a class she’s not qualified to teach. As a family, if you not part of clique that includes the current nurse, you’re concerns are ignored. Much much better choices in the area.

Don’t waste your money. This school shouldn’t even be called a school. The stem lab that they had to spend all their money on is used for storage and their 3D printer has never been used by my child. Their whole education is based off of religion which I don’t want my child to learn because their religion is not their life. I honestly feel like this school is trying to make my child become a priest. The administration is awful and no communication what so ever. The teachers are not kind and barely put in effort to make my kid have the best experience. Priests came In and out of this school because they knew that they could take over something that will get them money. Do not send your kid here. Gym class should be called “make fun of my child free time.” Bullying at this school is highly acknowledged but never had come to the attention of teachers when it actually happens. No child deserves to sit in a quiet classroom to eat lunch and not have any more then 10 minutes for recess. This school is like a prison.

It is absolutely heartbreaking to see what is happening at this school. Mismanagement of money has caused teacher cuts and less for our children. They now have 1 class per grade with the exception of Jr. High. No library, computer or gym teachers, multiple grades do not even have teachers for the upcoming year. They claim they are a stem school yet my kids did not use the stem lab at all this year. The room was also mostly used for storage. The communication/ honesty from the administration to the parents is awful. Bullying is absolutely ridiculous, and not only goes on between students but also with parents. My child and myself have both experienced it first hand. The way people treat and speak to others is disgusting. It is extremely heartbreaking to see what has happened to this school. They fired some of the most amazing teachers and staff. It is definitely not worth the money to send your child/children to this school. The only community that exists in this school is if you are part of the clique. The students were pretty much locked up in their classrooms all day every day this year "due to covid" no lunch in the cafeteria, no recess, no library, no stem lab, they weren't even allowed to go to the music room. I highly doubt the school will even last for 1 more year.

So sad how this school has gone downhill. My kids are suffering there right now. I can’t wait to move and get them out of this place.Their STEM certificates should be revoked it is a joke they threw all science labs technology and extracurriculars out the window. Bullying is at an all time high and the teachers and principal are out of touch and checked out.Students forced to eat lunch silently in the classrooms with no talking. I could go on about unfair grading and gym should be called dodgeball because that’s all they ever play. Why are we paying for this?

It used to be good with the old principal but this new, uneducated principal and the assistant principal (who is just on a power trip) are one of the main reasons we left the school. If you want your child to get a good education send them somewhere else!!
