This school is going downhill fast. The previous principal was amazing, but was forced out in 2018. His replacement has not handled numerous issues at Oxbow. They have therefore had to bring in an assistant principal. Teachers at Oxbow are a mixed bag with a few that are great. There is barely any emphasis on science at this school. They don't give the kids any homework which ill prepares them for middle school. This school is by far the worst in Huron Valley. Can't wait to be done with this school and never look back.

8.5/10- I wish they had more organized opportunities for the kids but the teachers have been amazing!

My two kids have just finished their first year at Oxbow Elementary and I cannot emphasize enough what a great school this is! There is a huge amount of parent involvement and the entire staff is wonderful. We were so grateful for some additional resources available at this school to help our child deal with some behavioral issues and the transition from another school and truly felt that the emphasis school-wide is on helping the kids succeed, learn and grow. Despite the fact that this school doesn't overall have the highest test scores (which is why the overall rating is not higher), this does not at all reflect the lack of opportunity to learn or excel at this school, but simply the presence of a variety of children with different learning abilities and home circumstances. This is a great school!

I can't say enough about how much I love this school. This is my third year as an Oxbow parent. The teachers are fantastic; both my daughter and I have literally cried at the end of the year to move on from teachers! The principal is wonderful and puts a great emphasis on safety and security. But at the same time, he is very approachable and warm. The atmosphere and parent involvement is the best I have ever seen. I am truly blessed that my kids are Oxbow Owls!

My child has been at Oxbow for the past 4 years and I have been nothing but pleased with the experience. The teachers are fantastic and my son has always had the support he's needed- I believe my child is excelling academically and socially because of all of the resources he has available at this school. There are students from diverse backgrounds that I also feel give him a good world perspective as well. The new principal has done a wonderful job with new programs and morale overall seems very good. The office staff are always friendly. I realize it's easy to look at test scores and think something is off at a certain school, but every child is different and my child's test scores are strong, meaning that he is learning all that he should when compared to other children taking the same tests in the state. I have nothing but good feelings about Oxbow and I'm a proud parent.

Oxbow has a new principal who taught there for many years. It has a whole new feel. I would suggest you give it a chance.

My son spent two years at this school and if it wasn't for the teachers we would of left immediately. I was supposed to have an appointment with the principal that never happened. Kept rescheduling it until I finally gave up. She referred to my child as a problem child.. His teacher had to step in and correct her on what type of student my child is. Completely unprofessional. If you're not a part of the "clique" you're not welcome. Would recommend not sending your child to this school.

My child started going to this school in 2009, when the new principal was brought in.and the school rating was a 9... The office staff is wonderful, the teachers are fantastic, and the kids all love the lunch lady! However, the disciplinary actions taken against bullying is awful, the children only get 4 min.from the time they sit down, to eat lunch, and are forced to throw out the rest of their food, the recess personnel are not observant, and when told of negative actions, just tell the child to stay away from the kids that are picking on them, and the women in the lunch room, are extremely rude to the kids, don't allow talking during lunch. If it weren't for the fantastic teachers, and the help THEY offer, our children would no longer go to this school. It's a shame, the old principal comes in to sub time to time, and shows great care and pride for the school, staff, and most importantly, the students,, the current principal, seems to not care at all, and I've talked to other parents who's children had the old principal, and say the same. I now see why the schools rating had dropped!

I went to Oxbow, and enjoyed every year spent there, the school helped me get my act together and now that I am in highschool, behavior issues are a thing of the past. The teachers there are great and very helpful, i respect them all. Thanks to my teachers for helping me be who i am today. :)

NOTE: The Oxbow Principal is new as of 2009-2010. This should be considered when reading ratings and comments that are based on the Principal's leadership.
