Our student is going on her 4th year at Level Up Academy. She loves her school, and that speaks volumes to us. She is also doing well academically and socially and I've been involved in the school. Whenever we have had questions/concerns and brought it to the directors they've been very approachable, open-minded, curious, and action/solution-oriented. The school leadership isn't afraid to think outside of the box to meet unique challenges and goals and have proven to be very resilient as a small charter school that is growing. It's clear the staff are dedicated and caring people who feel a sense of mission and calling as educators. We are happy to have discovered Level Up Academy!

Didn't feel safe with my kids here as they never called me when they got hurt and also they lost them on the bus for over 2 hours when they were car pickup and drop off. They weren't friendly, they wouldn't let you enter the school and they were not welcoming to people of color. Also they don't teach much and they don't have sports. Wasn't a great fit at all.

Absolutely felt incredibly comfortable and joy when interacting with the teachers, they were kind enough and moreover patient with me throughout the sessions. Through their immense efforts each session was really interactive and interesting to understand. All i witnessed was sincerity and hardwork which reflected through their different ways of teaching. I thank all the teachers for their cooperation. Definitely worth it!!!

My son has attended Level Up Academy since kindergarten and is in middle school there now. He has always loved the school. I feel the school fosters an environment where is able to be the best version of himself. He has grown academically and enjoys the pace of learning. He is always challenged to learn in different ways. He has a strong connection with his teachers and the other students. I would highly recommend Level Up Academy!

Can't say enough good things about this school and the difference it made for our family!!! We went from rock bottom as a family to seeing my son blossom with confidence and meeting new friends left and right. Love the small class sizes and all the fun activities and family events they offer. Every single member of the school has been overwhelming nice, patient, and welcoming to us and willing to accommodate whatever our son needed to ensure he excelled. What they all did in a few short months was so impressive, and I thank God every day for making the call to inquire, because it truly changed the path we were on. They basically rebuilt his trust in the education system and he knows he's 100% supported and loved here. My younger one is looking forward to starting soon too! THANK YOU!!!

Both my kids currently attend LUA and they are both excited to return in the fall! It’s fun to know who will be in your class ahead of time, since there is only one class per grade. The teachers are welcoming and great at getting back to you with answers to questions.

My own kids enrolled in Level Up Academy when it opened in 2015. This school has made a life-changing difference in my own family by personalizing learning, focusing on relationships and by making learning engaging and relevant. After seeing the difference this school made in my own family, I decided to return to a career in education, and have been teaching and leading at Level Up Academy since 2016. Every day in our students and families, I see the kinds of transformations that happened in my own children. Many students go from struggling at school or just surviving school to truly thriving when they come to Level Up Academy. When we measure our student growth over time, our students outscore the national average growth even when they come to us performing below grade level academically. We offer three personalized pathways - Live, Fusion and Virtual so that students can learn the way that is right for them. Through our four pillars, wePERSONALIZE, weENGAGE, weCONNECT, and weENGAGE, we make learning exciting. wePERSONALIZE by creating a personalized learning plan for each student to learn at their own pace and in their own way. weCONNECT by making positive relationships a priority and by using restorative practices to solve problems when they arise. weENGAGE students in their learning through games and relevant 21st century skills, and weCODE by teaching computer science beginning in kindergarten.I'd love to talk to you about Level Up Academy. Please visit our website for more information and to schedule a tour!

The school teaches nothing. In addition to that, my experience here was that I was treated rudely and in a very unwelcomed way. You cannot mention a holiday or anything as such, or you will be considered to not be following social justice rules.

We love LUA! Both of our children attend, one son is in the junior high and the other son is in the elementary. We chose LUA because of the small class sizes, one on one attention from the incredibly patient and caring teachers and because of the Summit program. We really like the personalized approach, one of our sons has dyslexia and he is able to move at his own pace without embarrassment or feeling behind because of the Summit program. Because of the small class sizes and individual attention we feel like the teachers make genuine connections with our kids and understand their strengths and challenges. The special education department is excellent and we feel like the specialists again really know and understand our children because of the small community of LUA. LUA is a 5 star school because of its amazing staff, small class sizes and dedication to the needs of the students.

This school is AMAZING! With a truly personalized approach to learning and with growth mindset and social emotional learning as part of their curriculum (along with reading, writing, math, STEAM [2 days a week], physical education [2 days a week], and art [once a week]!) this school offers more than any school we've been a part of. They know what they are doing and they are doing it really well!BONUS: After talking with friends with kids in other public schools around the metro area, Level Up Academy's COVID distance learning/hybrid procedures FAR EXCEEDS what other schools are doing. They are much more than busy work and Zoom meetings. Kudos to Level Up Academy! You are doing it right!

To all prospective families - we know that because you are looking on this site, you are inquiring about schools in the area. Perhaps you are looking to change your high-achieving child to a school that doesn't limit growth to grade level experiences. Perhaps your creative child needs more open-ended projects and more choice and voice! Perhaps your struggling learner isn't struggling due to lack of potential, but instead, due to a lack of opportunity! If these stories, or stories like them, resonate with you - come check out Level Up Academy where personalization isn't a buzz word, it is a valued model of success. We'd love to give you a tour!In addition, we would like you to know that the testing scores provided on this site are inaccurate. We have reached out to Great Schools to correct the data. Until then, you can go to the Minnesota Department of Education and see the accurate data on our school's report card. Both math and reading scores align with the state averages 55.8 and 62.8 respectively. At Level Up Academy, we know that test scores are a snapshot of our children on a given day. They are one way to measure our school. We value multiple measures of evaluating achievement through academic observations, portfolio work, learning celebrations, video reflections, social-emotional growth, and the intenional teaching of cognitive skills. Even so, we wanted to share accurate data for testing, so if it is data that you prioritize, you can use accurate information to make school decisions for your child/ren. We are a young school in our fifth year. Between years two (2016) and four (2018 - the latest testing data) our student proficiency rate in reading and math grew 20 and 24 percentage points. Perhaps what our data actually shows is that families looking sought out a personalized environment where positive growth and achievement are their child's new reality! We are proud of Level Up Academy - our surveys from families, students, and staff show we all agree. When you come for a tour, ask to see the survey results! We'd be happy to show you!

Level Up Academy has given our family a new outlook on how education CAN and SHOULD be. They are doing education right! The low ratings due to test scores are misleading. As a newer school, students are coming from many different learning environments. As the school grows in age, the test scores will increase as more students will have the chance to experience a personalized education.
