It's been a couple of years since my child left The Concept School. In this time we have discovered that there were many inappropriate actions involving the school's administration. It's unfortunate because many of the teachers and staff seem to be there because they want to have a positive impact in a non-tradional environment. Others seem to be there due to concerning previous mainstream school situations.

Terrible! My kid hated it! Got bullied for who they wanted to be and who they were!

There is not enough focus on academics.

My daughter has thrived at the Concept School. The teachers are very responsive to her ADHD and anxiety, and are very flexible with her. They are also incredibly kind, and this means a great deal to her. The principal, Mr. Bennet, is great. He is easy to talk to and work with, when issues inevitably come up. The classes are very small, and the teachers know the kids really well. We had a terrible time in public school, and we were so glad to have found the Concept School, where differences are embraced.

My daughter just enrolled this year and our experience so far has been amazing! My daughter comes home everyday and raves about how she loves the teachers and how much fun she has learning! Thanks Mr. Bennett and Mrs. Funsten for making the transition a positive one!

My son has several learning challenges and TCS has been able to work with him on many levels. He's ready to go to school every day with a smile on his face, which makes attending TCS magical. He's doing grade level work, and progressing at his own pace, which is precisely what he needs to learn. All the staff are devoted teachers who are flexible, patient and knowledgeable. I couldn't recommend TCS any higher. It's a great space and wonderful fit.

If your child has learning challenges and is falling through the cracks of their current school, TCS might just be the answer you've been looking for. After a nightmare experience in the public school system, my son has attended TCS since sixth grade. He will graduate in June and has already been accepted to college with a scholarship to cover some of his tuition. The teachers are, to a person, gifted educators who truly care about the kids and about us parents. My son will come out of TCS a person who understands and accepts his challenges, knows how to manage them, and most importantly, feels good about himself. Not only does the school address academics but the teachers and staff know what's going on socially and work with the kids to help them develop their social skills. Bullying is absolutely not tolerated, not even a little bit. In addition, the staff pays attention to social interactions among the kids, and when problems arise, try to help the kids sort them out. I have not heard of that level of support in any other school, particularly at the high school level where kids often need the most help. Check it out and I hope it turns out to be a godsend for you too.
