Not good, untrustworthy/ineffective staff makes this a horrible school for some children.

I am now in another state (CO), but I spent two years of my life in West Oak and I absolutely LOVED it. The teachers are amazing, the students and everyone else is also! :)

My daughter has Down Syndrome. Her teacher Mrs. Thomas has gone to great lengths to keep our children involved in the community. Their community field trips may be as simple as a trip to the grocery store, but the kids love them. Seeing how excited she is each day makes mine. My daughter loves to sing with the chorus. You have to understand that her speech is very poor. At times it is unintelligible, but she gets up there and sings her heart out. Now her teacher is trying to get her a spot on the cheer leading squad. Some of the teachers have volunteered to stay late so my daughter can attend practice. She wouldn't be able to attend otherwise since I have to work until 5pm. Mrs. Thomas and the entire staff at this school have shown love and compassion beyond what their career asks of them. I would love for them to get this award so their job might be a little bit easier. Thank you for your consideration.
