    Kids rule the school. No accountability. Bullying is not taken seriously.

    We moved to Martha's Vineyard in September of 2012, when he began attending West Tisbury for 6th grade we found out that my son was behind in Math and Language Arts. The teachers here were excellent, they assessed the skills he had not learned in elementary school in NH then put a plan in place to help him learn those needed skills while keeping him up to speed with the current curriculum. By the end of the school year he was at grade level with his peers and had to confidence to begin loving school. I am so thankful for them taking the time and energy to find out what he needed and helping him achieve success.

    The school takes a very unstructured approach to learning from k & 1. Students call teachers and administrators by their first names. The children spend lots of time on the floor and are expected to stay still and focused. Teachers and assistants are unkind to "high energy" children.

    My daughter (2nd. grade) enjoys the school immensely. Her teachers have been very good and dedicated from my perspective. There's lots of innovation and adaptation to local environment and culture (island) in the curriculum they've forged. I recommend it without qualification.
