All 4 of my kids graduated from this school district and have done well with their education. My oldest went to U of I and has been working as an electrical engineer since he graduated. My second has his degree in computer science and is working in that field now. My third is attending EIU in graphic design and is doing great. My youngest is attending University of Kentucky in business and is also doing great there. They had small class sizes and were able to participate in many extra curricular activities. They had so many opportunities to learn in different ways that wouldn't be available at a bigger school. I also felt like I had a voice in my children's education. It was easy to have a conversation with the administration.

I agree with the other reviews about this school, I would not recomend this school what so ever, untill a lot of changes are made. The issues with the teachers bullying students has been pushed aside again and again, year after year, however if you contact the school board and have these issues addressed it will help, and the more of you that do so will be helpful for not only yourself but for next years kids as well. The school board takes these issues very seriously.

I am currently a student @ DelandweldonhighSchool. middle school I got bulliedto the point I wanted to die, went to principal for help. Said just miscommunication&bulling got worse. Highschool camegot bullied againexcept this time I didn't go for help cause ofmiddle school triedto run from it now have to repeat second semester cause wontallow me to make for crdits. says you in student handbook course schedall jacked up& half grade back school runned bypopularity, wealthhow well ur parentsthreatenschoolteachersstill "learning" what learned 1 semester @TJ in Decatur dontteach students in way info can be processed, some teachers don't teach n the teacher loses only ur paper 85% of the time.>half the class saw u turn it inno way that any1 go from this high school straight into college&do well. Middle schools more advanced than highschool. I want to get into medicine, but if I don't get to another school that goal is down the drain. At the moment my Mother is not able to move, have me enrolled on an online school, or spend extra to have me in a school out of the district. That is why I might have to file for emancipation because of all the educational and finacilal barriers that I face.
