Staff couldn’t get my child’s name correct. Principal called my child autistic without any evaluation or proof. My child is not autistic and has been tested. Staff ignore parents when greeted at drop off. Teacher waited two days to notify me of serious incident. Child strongly dislikes this school and never wants to go back. Beautiful location though.

I would not recommend this school to a family that has SPED children.

We love Machetanz and sought a boundary exemption to attend this school when my son started Kindergarten. By far the best in the area. The school is clean, they have an extensive playground and everyone is really friendly. When there have been issues, they have been dealt with promptly, fairly and effectively. I feel heard and listened to and that my input is valued. There is a lot of parent involvement - there are many parents at each class/school event. Parent participation is welcomed and I feel encouraged to attend activities as both a parent and parent volunteer. I get frequent communication from my sons teacher in the form of class newsletters, informational emails and responses to any questions I may have. Homework is consistent and reasonable. This really is a great school - my son likes his classmates and his teacher, and for a little boy, that's saying something! :)

Looking for alternatives to the point that I don’t know if my child will be able to finish the short two months left in the school year

Machetanz elementary is hands down the best public education school in the Mat-Su district. - Just ask the out of district parents that have their children on the waiting list year after year. The STEM program is a fantastic opportunity for growing minds. I sincerely appreciate the teaching staff for continually going the extra mile to encourage, educate and challenge our kids. Our children are EXCITED to go to school and I'm thoroughly pleased with their academic progress.

Horrible leadership at this school. Playground is satisfactory, teachers are great and the school is beautiful.
