My three children went to Taft Elementary. My youngest moved up to the MS in 2015. All of my children loved Taft! Their teachers were amazing & prepared them well for middle school. Each and every one of their teachers throughout the years went above and beyond to make sure my children were successful academically and provided a fun, safe environment.

This school has it good points and it's bad points. Let's start with the positive...1. It has a security guard and some cameras. 2. Nice office staff and front desk staff.3. They have two playgrounds and there aren't any trees surrounding them. 4. They have some very good teachers.5. The nurse is exceptional. Now the negatives....1. The principal is dismissive and combative.2. They refuse to allow parents to create a Special education committee. 3. The PTA isn't very organized and do not communicate well with the parents. 4. The PTA refuses to accept suggestions on pretty much everything.5. There is a lot of segregation. 6. The communication is HORRIBLE!!!!!!7. They have a few bad teachers and refuse to do anything about it. 8. I have witnessed a 1st grade SE student walk out the dismissal doors without an escort and wander onto a bus. I advised the teacher, who btw, didn't even know he was missing. I contacted the office immediately, but to my knowledge nothing was done about it. 9. The principal doesn't listen. Ever. 10. They do not have air conditioning or any type of a ventilation system. This makes the school extremely hot and uncomfortable.

My son is graduating from this school and he has been in Taft since pre-K. The teachers are great but I must say the principal is not parent-friendly. Mr. Q never says hello or greets when he sees a parent. He looks more like a security guard than anything else. My son had a serious issue as a victim of bullying and Mr. Q said it didn't happen in his school and to take it on with transportation. So happy my son is leaving, finally.

My son graduated from Taft in 2002...and now his little sister does to..shes in 2nd grade....(yes my kids are 12 years apart) I love how passionate the teachers are with the kids...I love how active and involved the P.T.A is....I love how happy the students seem. All in all it is a great school.
