Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering High School is the Best in Washington DC!!!I would like to thank so much the Principal Dr.Emmett who is reacheable, very humble, kind, professional, knowledgeable, helpful, respectful, sociable, & excellent communicator. He has 30 years experience, that’s impressive!!! He analyzes situations very well & meticulously with critical thinking skills.He had an interview with my son & he made sure my son is happy to choose the pathway that he is passionate about & also analyzed his future goals. He associated the staff specialized in that field who has 25 years experience & they both kindly explained us candidly/honestly the curriculum they currently offer. I would like to also thank so much the administration including the Assistant Principal & both Secretaries who are very kind, friendly, sociable, knowledgeable, helpful, respectful & excellent communicators as well..I would like to thank so much also the Security Officers who made sure the school is safe, using a scanner machine @the entrance which could detect potential dangerous objects so I like that & I think that all high schools should have that great model system. Even though they don’t have all the software engineering program we’re looking for, I still applied to that school for my son as I’m more reassured, & comfortable that my son will be in a great environment well structured & organized with very kind & respectful staff & very well disciplined & kind students if he is accepted into Phelps ACE High School. I hope this high school will have Software Engineering programs incorporated in the future. Phelps ACE High School is a great place to be for an excellent multidisciplinary education!!!Thank you so much for all their time, explanation, patience & help, so we greatly appreciate it!!!I would like to thank so much also the representative Ms.Anna @the DC schools hotline for her patience, kindness, understanding & help. Ms.Anna kindly finalized the submission of my son’s application. The staff of the DC Hotline had been very guiding also since I contacted them, so we greatly appreciate it!!!

While the school certainly boasts a very strong curriculum for students who are interested in STEM related subjects, there is nothing being done to protect students from the violence in the area. The administration's response to violent attacks on students in and around the school building is to deflect responsibility rather than work to provide a safe environment for students, especially for those who participate in after school activities. If you are considering this school, you should also consider coordinating private transportation in the afternoons to ensure your child's safety.

So far this school ROCKS!!!! the Administration is very attentive & caring. Never judge a school by the neighborhood. I was hesitant considering the benning road area but based on presentation, professionalism, curriculum & overall demeanor of the students PHELPS far exceeds my expectations... Looking forward to a great experience!!!

Love it. My son transferred to this school from Orlando, FL. He was doing ok in Florida but not great. I was trying to figure out how I could get him into a private high school as I was terrified about what he may face in a DC Public School. My son is now flourishing under the total leadership at Phelps. Having some experience with private schools in the area, Phelps should be ranked among the best. Unless they change the leadership, my son will be back.
