Our experience at Peabody was frustrating and disappointing, particularly at the height of the pandemic but also in the months that followed. Teachers, staff, and even many of the high-income parents that drive discussion around school policies were dismissive (and often openly rude) about concerns from parents like me (I am a single mother) about how the inconsistent and confusing Covid restrictions were harming those families that couldn't afford nannies and tutors to get them through the constant school closures. Even once the children had returned to in-person learning, school staff had seemingly lost interest in teaching the kids, and staff refused to provide insight into what was going on in the classroom or how my child was progressing once he was back in school. I felt that essentially this was a school community catering to privileged families, pretending to care deeply about doing social good, but utterly failing those of us who didn't have the luxury of seeing things the way they did. Once I moved my child to a different school, his new teachers immediately identified that he had fallen behind his peers significantly and got him the help he needed, even though Peabody teachers never mentioned nor answered questions about how he was struggling academically. That was a lower priority for them than scolding him about pulling his mask down on the playground outside.

I am lucky enough to have my children in the Capitol Hill Cluster School, a vibrant place of learning full of exceptionally creative and dedicated teachers. I've marveled at how teachers integrate what the kids learn about history and social studies with field trips and studies outside the classroom, taking advantage of all that our nation's Capital has to offer. The teachers we've had, from academic to music and the arts, are all the sort to go the extra mile and then some --- allowing our children to apply their learning to see a bigger picture; from exhibiting art work near the Smithsonian museums to reciting Martin Luther King's "I have a Dream" speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial the weekend before President Obama's second Inaugural address. CHCS is home to a dedicated bunch of educators to say the least, and it is an energetic, inspired place of learning as a result.

Peabody has been an ideal introduction to formal education for both of my children. The community is incredibly supportive of children and families. Both my kids developed a love of learning here at Peabody that will certainly serve as a strong foundation for their entire academic careers. Each of the classroom teachers, specials teachers, and aides we've met are highly professional and committed. And now we have a building that shines as much as the staff!

Peabody is an incredible school on Capitol Hill. The grades included are PS-3, PK-4 and Kindergarten. The school's leadership, teachers and staff are simply stellar. We feel so lucky that our daughter is attending school here. The teachers no longer follow the classes, but I personally think it's fine for students to experience different teachers, with different approaches and personalities - I believe it's better for academic and social development. Parents of children who attend this school include Congressmen/women, attorneys, doctors, CEOs, and professors, among other high paid professionals. While the parents are all very busy, they are dedicated to their children and the school and participate consistently in school activities. 100% of the students meet or exceed the pre-literacy skills standards. Bonus: the school just underwent a massive renovation this summer and the results are stunning! It's a wonderful example of a successful school. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is new to Capitol Hill. Enroll, enroll, enroll! You'll be so happy you did!

We have had an absolutely fantastic three years at Peabody and lucky us we'll have one more. Every teaching team we've had have been fantastic and so different. I couldn't dream up for fabulous women to lead and nurture young people. They are fun, loving, caring and charismatic. My son started when he was 2 (late September birthday) and he LOVES going to school. The teachers, administrators and kids are all lovely. It's a delightful place to be. Just walking in the door puts a smile on my face - it just feels good to be there! We're so lucky to have Peabody on Capitol Hill. It's an absolute gem!

Peabody has a phenomenal early childhood education program. The teachers are knowledgeable in early childhood education and what is the appropriate skills to master for the 3-5 age group. Also, we have been blown away with the parent involvement. You will be amazed at the progress achieved by your child in their time at the school.
