We had been homeschooling, but after falling upon hard times and not having a finished home in which to unpack and set up our school materials, I reluctantly enrolled two of my children in the Waldron Middle School. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. My children thrived there. My daughter joined cross country and archery and maintained almost straight A's, and made friends. My 6th grade son, who was 4-5 years behind his peers in reading/writing skills and in math, made phenominal progress just in the first semester! He joined band and the car club as well as going to tutoring after school 3x/wk. And he has maintained all A's & B's with the exception of one high C. When his reading class took their semester final test, my son got the only A! He has also made a good friend, and has had no bullying (which he would in some places just because he's overweight or because he doesn't have many nice clothes). I will also add that when 3 students had a fight and one threatened to shoot up the school, the threat was taken seriously and the problem swiftly dealt with, with the problem makers arrested. The teachers did a great job of keeping fears down and making sure everyone felt safe and stayed safe. Whenever I had a concern, the teacher of that class would call me to discuss, and they were always very professional, caring, understanding, and passionte about teaching kids. The school counselor was also a great source of support for us.
