Clearwater in Waconia, MN I find the school to be of very high quality. Low problems with students and the curriculum appears to be thorough and in keeping with the 6th grade level of interest.

We just moved to the Waconia school district this last fall and had high expectations as we had heard it was a great school. Our daughter is in 5th grade and she does like her teachers and really has had no complaints. The curriculum is good enough to meet the MN State Standards, but thats it. You can tell they teach to the standards and nothing less, nothing more. Communication from the teachers to the parents is very sparse. It is the end of March and I have yet to hear from her teacher, besides the two quick scheduled conferences. There isn't much character building going on within the classroom either. Lunchroom tables are clicky with group names which staff knows about, yet they do nothing to diminish them and give everyone a fair chance in the social circles of middle school. If you just want good enough, go here. Otherwise, there are plenty of other options in the city of Waconia and surrounding areas. We will be switching to a new school next year.

We have done private school and homeschooling and our kids are very far ahead. We have been at CMS 2 years and I cannot say enough good things about the Staff - fantastic! 5th grade is kept apart almost like they are in their own school - no migling with upper grades. Each grade has it's own house the is separate. Math is differenitated with is a benefit for high and low students and they are working hard at new ways to challenge high kids. Every teacher we have had has been outstanding. Music program is best around - this year 180 kids out of 240 or so are in band. Choir is a highlight (even for boys)! PE is something we hear about nightly (today we played the funnest game ever mom)! Honestly, I feel like we should send a check to the schoo - we are so lucky to have found Waconia!! Kids are great too - so respectful! There are still a few problem kids but there are just a few compared to other schools - and the teachers handle problems immediately. Truly cannot say enough good things.
