St. Helen Catholic School was very instrumental in preparing my children for high school and beyond. The curriculum was challenging and taught well by caring teachers as evidenced in the honors and AP successes in the years that followed. The Christian atmosphere is present everywhere on campus. Friendships built have lasted far beyond the walls. My children have grown into well rounded, compassionate, intelligent young adults who treat others with respect. And that in itself is a true testimonial of a great foundational school.

As a former student/recent graduate, I will not put it lightly when saying that you should not send your child to this school. The school lacks organization and the curriculum falls behind the public school system, making it a more difficult transition for kids to excel in high school. The majority of my eighth grade class had to repeat Algebra 1/go into an academic level geometry class opposed to honors. The school doesn't offer any advanced classes, so as a gifted student, I was always bored. This school is an extremely oppressive environment for impressionable children, especially those in middle school. The students, teachers, and former principal had no respect for one another and lacked manners, values, and morality. Racist and prejudice remarks are a norm at St. Helen. Most teachers simply did not teach and those who did taught things that were completely off topic with the academia. If a student had a question about a problem, the teacher would act like it was an inconvenience for them. As for religion class, all we did was watch a movie the entire year. We were not even given confirmation preparation. Go to a prep or public school and do CCD. You'll be happy you did.

I have been a student since kindergarten and I am nearing graduation. The school, generally has a good education, teachers, and student body. But like every school, there are a few that stand out and spoil it for the rest. New to this year, our old principal retired and was replaced. In contrast to the blatant favoritism, lax on discipline, and uneasy feeling you got around him, the new principal is a major improvement. She has already made things better in our education and is put a tighter rope around bullying, which this school has always had a problem with controlling and solving. Definitely worth it to come here, but you have to know what you're getting into before you do.

St. Helen Catholic School has a wonderful group of teachers and staff. The academic awards that are won annually by St. Helen students. They are well prepared to further their education at the high school of their choice. I can't think of anywhere I would rather send my kids. Our family loves it. The teachers go above and beyond.

There is room for improvement!!! Technology is lacking in every way. Art, music,sports,2nd language are none existent or what little is there is not worth it. Communications between teacher and parents for some occurs only for the favorites. Most of the upper grade teachers are great. A few of the younger grades I have to agree with the other review don't waste your money. I like to classify them as teachers that are beyond the rules and are not held accountable by the administration nor do they respect the administration. It only takes a few bad apples to spoil the bunch. Most of the families any students are great. Again, a few bullying issues could use a heavier hand, especially when it's the teachers kids.

Ask about the student who got lost this year and how long it took to realize the student was missing.

St. Helen is a wonderful school. My oldest started there in 7th grade moving from another city to here and she still calls St. Helen home. I still have 2 other children that attend and I have seen so many improvements since we moved here 5 years ago. The principal is a loving and nurturing individual who cares about EVERY student and he is open to change. The academic curriculum is fantastic. The teachers are also loving, nurturing, and truly care that each of their children succeed in class. As a parent, you can be as involved as you want to be. The HSA team is a wonderful group of women that spend much of their time volunteering at the school. Without them, many of the events that take place today would not happen. My oldest now attends John Carroll Catholic High School where she is thriving-and I dedicate that success to a strong catholic school foundation. Before you choose a school, please take a tour of St. Helen. Great quality school where tuition is still reasonable.

I have three children who attend or have attended St. Helen. We are very satisfied with our decision to sacrifice to pay tuition (which is very reasonable compared to other private schools). Our high school student was proud when his new high school teachers would remark, "We love St. Helen graduates, you are all well-prepared for high school". I think the strengths of the school are Academics, Teachers who truly care and feel like family, the values learned through religion class and the Catholic Faith, and the great moms who volunteer and make many special moments for our kids and families. Our kids are loving, well-rounded and have excelled academically and socially here. The principal is a character so don't expect a stiff-suited man in charge but his genuine concern for the outcomes of the kids is evident and his ability to keep the school going despite the demise of many private schools in a tough economy are to be acclaimed. No school is perfect but in weighing the little things that are not perfect with the things that matter to my kids in the long run it is the best choice.

We have had our two children at St. Helen for nearly 3 years now and are very happy with the school. I appreciate all the little things that make St. Helen special the 3rd grade class baking pies and delivering them to our local firefighters and police officers the 5th grade class raising money to support the local human society the entire school donating the money collected at the weekly school mass to local charities like the Homeless Family Center. These little things teach character and social responsibility. There is wonderful parental involvement and very supportive teachers. Recently, the school has begun a much needed upgrade in technology now all the classrooms have smart boards and laptops. Our school is truly like a close-knit family, the smaller size of our school community ensures more personal attention to each student and that each student is known by name. The campus is safe and the staff is very experienced and caring. Our children are challenged academically and we were happy to find a very good advanced math program. If you are shopping for a school, you should check out St. Helen for yourself.

St Helen's excels academically and it is an almost annual process where their students win national awards in academic games, beating out the students from the public school system and other private schools to earn the coveted spots on the state and national teams. The teachers provide a caring environment, and the school itself gives the feeling of an extended family to both the parents and the students.

Being so new to Florida and the schools in the state, I was overwhelmed by the plethora of options in Vero Beach. However, I have no doubt that though this town offers many great options, that I chose the best. St. Helen's has been remarkable and I could not be happier with my decision. The principal, the teachers, the parents, the students are ALL wonderful. The academics ... exemplary. If you believe in building your child's inner foundation ... if you believe in challenging your child ... if you believe in giving your child the experience of a lifetime, then consider St. Helen.

As a former graduate myself and now a parent sending my children to St. Helen, I can honestly say that our school is tops! I am truely fortunate that my children are able to attend the same AWESOME school that I did and receive a well-rounded academic and religious education. Mr. Avril was principal when I attended and is dedicated to his students, faculty and parents whole-heartedly. Our school is his life! In addition, we have the most dedicated, nurturing teachers and faculty in the county providing our children with challenging ciricula. Our school competes in academic games and always comes out on top!! St. Helen School feels like "coming home" and I am honored to be a Falcon! I still have close friendships with classmates that attended as well and we will always cherish our St. Helen memories. You're truely missing out if you're not sending your children here!
