Staff and teachers aim to have students and their families feel like they belong . They have diverse after school gatherings . Educators here a really care about their students academics . Highly recommend.

This school is horrible. The content taught is below average, classroom behavior is out of control. My daughter and sin were both physically assaulted and the staff is resigned to this. I was told by the principal that my expectations were too high and I should look into private school. Just for my kids to be safe?!? Ridiculously bad.

Oldest went here and the youngest will be in fifth grade in 2020-21. I thought the teachers did great reaching out to students and family during Covid-19 and my student actually did her homework! I will say my oldest had an issue once on the bus and I felt the discipline could have been stricter. But haven't had an issue in years.

My son was bullied on the bus and assaulted. Resulted in him going to the hospital. The school swept it under the rug. If I could move, I would. This is a horrible school!

I was a student here and it sucked. I didn't learn cursive or my times tables till I switched schools in 4th grade. My little brother was physically bullied and older kids threw gravel and sticks in his face, he was only a kindergartener. He would come home from school everyday with new bruises and a resigned look in his face. He was held back because he didn't learn and was too damaged mentally to learn to read till he was in second grade. Whoever is in a position to improve this school, please work to improve these conditions further. As for now... I hold the position that anything more than three stars is too generous and untruthful. Thank You.

This is my childrens 5th year at Harney. Slowly I am noticing a decline in everything at the school, the office staff, teachers, and even the cleanliness of the building. It seems to have started when the new principle showed up a few years ago. I am disappointed in the school overall. Responsiveness is slower and professionalism could use improvment. Their Website is never up to date anymore either. It just seems to lack attention to detail. If my children were not in the Immersion program we would not be attending this school.

I had such a pleasant experience subbing at this school! The students I had for the day were great! On top of that, all of the staff and teachers were so kind. It was great to see such a cooperative working environment!

Love my sons teacher and so does he. I've been happy with the previous two teachers as well. Betty eperson in the front office is great as well. I do think there should be some sort of dress code. Sweat pants and pajama bottoms for kids? Most of the teachers don't set a good example wearing jeans and sweatshirts daily. The principal sets a great example with her suits and her smile. My son comes home and says there is a lot of students swearing at the school. Honestly we would not be at this school if we were not in the immersion program.

Can you say " institution"? I agree with all the criticism included in the past ratings regarding Harney Elementary on this site. The staff does not personalize their attention to their " little" customers. If our kids were not in this school the staff at Harney would be unemployed. Parenting has changed since the 70's and many parents have to trust these sucky public schools to educate their kids. The only way your child is going to succeed at Harney is if they are admitted to the Spanish immersion program where the kids seem to stay protected and educated.
