This is a fantastic neighborhood school full of teachers who care and led by a passionate principal. When I was looking for where to send my oldest child, Gault St didn't have the best Great Schools rating, but my mother-in-law, who is a teacher, told me to check the California Dashboard. She said the important thing was whether the school was moving in the right direction, and Gault was. Every teacher for my child has nurtured a warm learning environment and been very communicative about their progress and what can be improved. They have also been great social and emotional guides, especially through Covid, always encouraging compassion and empathy btw classmates. The Principal works tirelessly to improve the school in every way possible and each year the school has added more opportunities: Advanced Studies, music, theater, dance, robotics, updated facilities, gardens, all day preschool, and on and on. The office staff is so kind and knowledgeable, their kids have all gone here, too. The Parent Resource Center hosts regular discussions about the important issues facing our students and community. And now, after only 3 years, the GS rating has doubled with no end in sight! My son looks forward to school every day and has great test scores, what more could a parent ask for?!?

This was my son's school and it is an amazing school. His teacher was very good at teaching and helping the kids learn to be self sufficient and motivated in their education. The staff was all friendly and cared greatly about the students. They have a lot of activities that help challenge students to achieve high goals. The campus is safe and clean, as well.

When my son was starting Kindergarten, I had bypassed this school because of the Greatschools score. But a trusted friend told me there was a new principal, and was hearing good things about her. So we gave her a chance. We dropped in unexpectedly - she happened to be at the door, and gave us a tour! My son is in 5th grade now, and I can't describe how this school has grown. The grounds are beautiful, the kids are happy, the staff is happy and work hard to make sure children are learning and cared for. I've seen them go the extra mile to make sure they are taken care of outside of school too. The front office staff is actually welcoming and there is a parent center too.Visual arts, music, dance, a splendid library, vegetable gardens, chess and robotics clubs, 1:1 technology devices and differentiated learning are just SOME of the programs offered. I've played the eChoices points game, and my son got placed (twice!) at a Magnet school. We gave up the points because my son has it so good here. We're very, very glad we took the chance.

This school has the kindest students and staff. So proud of all the new programs and initiatives including differentiated learning, one to one devices, a new website that informs staff and parents.New enrichment programs such as marine biology, lego robotics, competitive robotics, chess club,Gardeners club, and Hip Hop. Students participate in leadership programs such as fitness leaders and Student Coucil. Early morning family fitness program encourages students to exercise before the bell which helps with focus and learning. Wow. You need to see the holiday program too. Just so elegant and deserving of these hard working students. So very happy here. Everyone takes care of each other and sets them up for success.

I have been an employee at Gault Elementary for four years and I love working at such an exquisite school. For all of you reading this I need you to know the truth! The Principal at our school is an amazing individual! He cares for the students, teachers, parents, and staff as we were another family to him. I have two teenagers in High School and when they have visited me at work they tell me that when they were in elementary school they wish they went to Gault because they adore the Principal because he cares so much. When my kids went to elementary school their Principal didn't care. I really wish I knew about Gault when my kids were small because it is truly an exceptional school. I have to also give a kudos to the teachers because they really care! Some of them stay till five or six in the evening working on their lesson plans. That is dedication! Mr. Albion, teachers, staff members, and students really deserve kudos for their accomplishments at such an amazing school! Here is the point of view of a satisfied staff member! Thanks for listening!

To the person who wrote the multiple reviews stating racism against Latinos, bashed and faulted the principal for spelling and grammar errors, and demoralized coordinators: The art of conversation isn't saying the right thing at the right time; rather, it's leaving unsaid the wrong things at the most tempting moment. You're words and pattern in which you formulate your sentences, coupled with the fact that you really only bashed employees, stated specific knowledge of the principal, and never once mention your children, lead me to believe that you're a disgruntled staff member pretending to be a community member... (But since anyone can put in a review, I'm going to just assume that it wasn't a teacher and it's just someone pretending to be. Actually I'm going to pray that's the case). Both of my kids attended Gault Street Elementary and NEVER experienced and/or witnessed racial discrimination. If indeed, this school is as bad as you say it is, why do you still work.... I mean, leave your child/children in the hands of such awful people? Gault Street Elementary is a great school with great people. Furthermore, your lack of maturity and professionalism are unacceptable beyond reproach. One last thing; please make sure you correct your own grammar errors before criticizing someone else's.

As Principal of Gault Elementsry, I am confused as to why an disgruntled parent would write such mean and hurtful things about my staff.First, our school rating is due to our low SBAC scores from last spring. I am currently working with our District tech people to determine deficiencys in our wi-fi connections so that this year, our students have a better testing experience. As for the horrible picture painted by this questionable individual, I invite anyone to visit our school and let me personally show you are many accomplishments.

I read some of these reviews and would like to address them. Many teachers work excessively hard. Staying late, arriving early and working on the weekends. I know this because I am one and several of my friends are teachers here ! The homework is assigned per grade level and what the professional deems necessary for the class. I send reading every night and less than half my class returns it on a daily basis. Open house is held after school due to most parents picking up their child however very few parents came in. The students are very kind and respectful. I have been lucky with classrooms full of sweet kids that try hard. I find that most of these reviews are way off! The principal knows every students name. He often buys clothes for a fifth grader in need for culmination. The coordinators are always busy! They wear many hats. No school is perfect but there are great people at this school and the students are kind.

HORRIBLE school.Absolutely No Leadership! Hispanics are looked down upon by several teachers. Coordinators are terrible and useless! Principal is useless. Stay away from this school. Run

Sadly to say I have few good things to say about this school.my experiences with the teachers at gault have been less than satisfactory. if you are Hispanic your child will be thrown into a class of "lower performing students" once there, you will not get the"Extras" (art, dance...etc) as the other classes at the same grade level get. Yes, there is blatant favoritism displayed at this school. administration should be ashamed of the way this school is run. I wish I could move so my children could attend a better school

The staff is very friendly, helpful and very approachable. My daughter has been going there for 3 years now. I have no complaints in regards to the teachers. The school as many others is affected by the low budgets in Los Angeles, but the staff makes the best out of it. I volunteer whenever I can and try to help as much as I can. I wish all parents would do the same.

My child has been going to this school for 3 years now. I am currently happy with the teacher he is with but this has been a struggle. I get the sense that the teachers and staff are doing their basic jobs but aren't going above and beyond for their students. I don't get a sense of camaraderie within the staff like I do at other schools. I am defiantly concerned with the continuing decrease in scores and API. I am seriously considering removing my child from this school.

I don't know why anyone would write negative comments about such a lovely school!! The teachers and principal are outstanding, the school is clean and safe, and the academics continue to improve. I wouldn't send my kids anywhere else!!!
