As a parent, I’m very disappointed in the school. First off if the staff is a direct reflection of the school, it speaks volumes about how the teachers/principal on down will not be attentive to your child educational needs. These people behind their snake pit as soon as you walk in the front entrance, have the most disgusted look on their face. I’m not surprised about all the negative comments left in the review section. This is a recently new school and they have no idea what they’re doing. Absolutely no clue. if your staff/School superintendents have no clue what they’re doing, what are they teaching our children? Highly Dissapointed

This school and it’s reputation really took a nose dive within the past two years. I know every school has their issues and I’m ok with that, but this school has really gone down hill. They don’t communicate with parents and this is one of the biggest issues. when there are school threats, or issues at the school there isn’t a follow up or a solution in place. This should be top priority, the kids safety and the parents peace of mind. There have been so many incidents this year alone, and every time we call all we get is “I’m sorry” we don’t get a plan of action, a solution, can’t even get an explanation of what really took place. There is no solid disciplinary action either, Some one who has a vape at school will get the same disciplinary action as the kid who forgot their homework. The whole first part of the year my sons teacher wouldn’t send homework, which is fine, but when I would ask what their lessons have been about, what curriculum they’re learning he could never answer the question. I had my son transferred to a different teacher and was so far behind in his new class. When I discussed with other parents they all seems to be going through the same struggles. This school, as well as tusd has really failed the children. I hope for the sake of the community they do better.

This is the worst school I have experienced in my life

It's sad that I agree with all of these reviews. Here it is January of 2016 and my only thoughts are I wish I had seen them sooner. All of your remarks are still fitting and the school is an embarrassment to the community. Unorganized, under staffed, young children left to "figure it out". Not poor, absolutely no communication with parents. As someone else stated it's a good looking school but I'd much rather have an ugly school where children are actually cared about and progressing versus being another head in a classroom, over stimulated and ignored. My 7 year olds teacher's response to a student picking on him was, "you're old enough, work it out". Not to mention an incident this Friday which would have been tragic had nobody been at my home when my son arrived home after suppose to be at bowling. They are far from excellent and I suggest not sending any child here. My child was excelling before going to McCorkle. They even lied straight to my face when I asked their rating claiming to have never had one being a new school, which I later found the article about how poorly they are actually rated. My son has been to two other schools not in TUSD district due to moves from Pre-k all the way to first and this has been the worst most stressful experience for me as a parent.

My son went here last school year(kindergarten). As a parent , I felt the need to tell others to never send your children to this school. I was so disappointed.. The teachers were so unattentive. At the beginning of the year, my son got lost 2 times at school. I switched teachers when the first one (who is no longer there) told me it was because his "head was in the clouds" (he was still only 4 at the time). The second teacher was a little better but not by much. She never lost track of my son but didn't seem to care when there was a problem with a bully in the class. all she ever said was, "that doesn't happen in the classroom, the students need to tell a monitor." i had personally seen the kid pushing, shoving, twisting arms of quite a few kids in her line on the way in. i never got any letters about events happening at school.. Had no idea about a fall festival, found out it was picture day on that morning, and there was a science fair we missed because they relied on the kindergarteners to relay all the information instead of sending a simple note home from school. Completely left TUSD and is now in a sunnyside school, where everything is 100 percent better!

I have a daughter who is currently attending for her second year. The communication is poor and the teachers never keep you updated on anything. The teacher to student ration is ridiculous. School dress code is never enforced and it is very common to find the middle school kids cursing at the top of their lungs showing little respect for the young ones who see them as role models. The school received horrible school ratings but the principle was proud and claimed progress and it's nothing to be proud of. I am currently looking for other options because this is not a school I am proud of having my daughter attend. To top it off the principal stated that not all teachers are good at teaching certain subjects so they need to be retaught! What good is their degree then? They have an awesome vice principle right now that's the only good I can say, as well as the school buildings being in pristine condition but I rather have my daughter going to a ugly looking elementary with good teachers and a safe environment than a pretty one with horrible staff. This school has so much potential but in the wrong hands it can lead to devastating outcomes at the expense our children's education.

Very upset with our experience at this school. Oversized classes, poor communication, and my son has been dealing with bullying all year. I was also disappointed to learn that my son failed a portion of the AIMS test last year. After researching the school's performance on the department of education website, I learned that Mc Corkle received a D rating from the state with only 36 percent of students passing math, 42 percent passing writing, and 69 percent passing reading. I care too much about my son's future to leave him in this underperforming school. We are looking for other options.
