So far, this school is horrible. they don't try very hard at anything. I rarely see staff. The lady's in the office only answer questions with "you can't" " can i come and visit my son in class?" " you can't" "Can I help out with anything?" " you can't" "Can i meet my sons teacher?" "you can't"This school is not a good school. The fact that they dont encourage parent involvement bugs me. to build your children it takes a village. especially being so under funded, parent involvement is a great way to save on paying for things. I personally have no problem giving the school my money if they need it. but i will not if i cant visit my son, and meet his teacher. Also they post a School Supply list on their web page, But then when school starts they send back all the supplies you buy with a NEW school list. NOT OK this stuff is expensive. I spent 185 On the supplies they sent back. And i will not be buying the stuff from the other list. That is on the teachers and the school. They should of sent out a list or posted it on the webpage under 4th grade. I don't have any information on how to contact my sons teacher. So if something happens i cant just shoot her an email of call he direct line. I have to call the school then leave a message for her. which is a horrible way. Communication is worse when its being passed from a 3rd party. I would of like to know what kind of HW they send out, they do not see to encourage reading. My son says they kids are all out of control. Sometimes my son will pretend he doesnt have HW and i cant tell because the teacher hasnt said anything. no " the kids get hw everyday. or the kids have to read everyday for 30 mins. or the kids will have hm m-th but not on friday. Nothing.

My son completed his first year of school and is now in first grade. Overall, the school does a great deal to keep the parents informed of school activities and events. Only wish more after school sports were open to the younger kids. It's great to see all of the teachers visible in the morning greeting the kids and the Tuesday morning assembly is terrific to keep the kids motivated. The school has a great influx of children from other countries, which may be a reason for the lower scores, but overall, I don't think this impacts the level of commitment to the curriculum. My son was on track and ready for first grade. There is a great emphasis for the kids to be test-ready, which is okay because we made sure our son stayed on track with his homework and classroom participation. As with many of the in the area, funding is limited so there aren't teacher's aides in the classroom. Overall, this is a good school.
