Cautiously started the year dreading the worst, given past reviews and a rough (and public) start to the year- but Hazelbrook has exceeded our expectations. Daily check-ins with my child reveal a student who feels belonging, who is excited to learn again (and not just complete basic mandated requirements but to challenge themselves), who has made and deepened friendships, has been treated with clear but kind discipline as needed and feels safe and cared for. Several staff have taken extra time to reach out to discuss progress, development, thoughts, and involve family- from the SRO and crossing guards greeting us every morning to Janitors opening up late afternoon gyms, to welcoming main office staff, to dedicated educators and counselors. Impressed with Admin response to our requests. Overall great, supportive experience so far that I would recommend to other families in doubt. Not sure what years past were like but hats off to Hazelbrook for turning things around.

VIOLENT, DISCRIMINITIVE, GARBAGE POLICIES, ZERO MENTAL HEALTH AND EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING, I could go on and on...

As a former student of the school who is now in high school and has moved around a lot, I attended many different schools, I must say that their overall system is horrible. The teaching system is okay, it's average, but the bigger issue is the bullying problems and how they manage them along with special needs and IEPs. I am an IEP student with ADHD and I had a horrendous experience with my teachers not following my IEP or straight up denying me my tools, which was a very common experience not just amongst me but amongst all my peers with IEPs and special needs. Some teachers would even go on random rants before the beginning of classes about how IEPs are useless and how today's generation is "weak", me and my peers were absolutely horrified. the bullying and bad Behavior were barely managed, Oftentimes Teachers would do little to nothing and when it was brought up to counselors or other school staff they said that they would then talk to the kid but that said kid's Behavior would continue and nothing would happen. Overall it was a horrible School experience for me and many of my peers especially considering I have seen other school systems and curriculums, If your kid is Special Needs/has a learning disability, or is prone to getting bullied then I would highly consider making sure that they are getting the proper support or just moving them into a new school all together.

Disappointing. Middle school is hard enough....but to deal with the bullying, loud/distracting classrooms and soft approach of administrators...what can be expected?

Having come from Massachusetts public schools Hazelbrook has been a huge disappointment. I have a 6th & 8th grader who are above average students. Both have found the cirriculum and teaching styles to be sub par in comparison to their learning experiences in Massachusetts. Needless to say we will be transferring our kids to West Linn and Lake Oswego school districts!

Hazelbrook Middle School has surpassed our expectations in every way. After having our kids in a private school K-5, we were hoping for the best when we made the switch to public middle school. We could not be happier! The teachers are the best, the curriculum is challenging and the communication is great! Our son loves walking to his neighborhood school and can't wait to go to school every day. A huge blessing!

This school is amazing i switched my kid out of Twality middle school and into Hazelbrook. Her grades have improved by 100% I sent emails to teachers and they always responded within 3 hours. I REALLY recommend this school!
