St. Joseph High School provides a first class education for those seeking it. Top academic programs include the full suite of Honors and AP courses. Teachers are dedicated, smart and enthusiastic. Administration is present and helpful with parents, providing good communication. The physical campus is great and beautiful and nice place for the kids to attend, study, socialize and play sports. Catholic values of community service and kindness is taught, followed and encouraged. Great school spirit, sports, good kids and fun. St. Joes has been a great overall experience for our child.

I have two students who attend St. Joes and our family LOVES this school. I have seen an amazing transformation in my son who is now a junior as he prepares to start the college process. And my daughter - who knew no one coming into the school - has made so many great friends and has even joined mulitple clubs and a sports team. St. Joes' community is second to none and we are so glad we made the choice to send our children here.

I recently graduated St. Joes as the Class of 2023. After being asked to put out positive reviews on several sites by administration, I ask myself, “what would I rate it?” Honestly, I rate this school a one out of five stars. The one star is for the teachers who work endlessly trying to give students their moneys worth with little support (minus the unstable math department). The administration is non-existent who only come out for show. The Dean of Students (male) actively targets students (especially girls), The principal (women) and president (male) rarely comes out of their office, and I have no comment on the new principal (male) because he just started. The St. Joes community dealt with a terrible tragedy caused by their student and they did not show up for their students. However, they showed up for the media aspect. All this school cares about is their athletics and they give special attention to student-athletes. When coming to this school parents are looking to give their child a catholic education, but the morals of this school and administration display the complete opposite. Now looking back, if I could of warned myself from all of the terrible experiences and morals that this school actively sets, I would not have chosen to spend the money. Honestly, it is not worth the money education wise and just the way the school looks. There is no A.C. in the academic wings and there is mold all around the school. Basically, the school is falling apart. In conclusion, I am yelling at you through my phone screen whoever is reading this… SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!

St. Joes is a wonderful school filled with people who care. Teachers are willing to work with their students during and outside of scheduled hours, the guidance counselors help students towards their futures, and the staff work tirelessly to make the campus look absolutely beautiful. As an alumni, I was more than prepared for college after graduation. Currently, I am working on my Ph.D. and I credit SJ for teaching me the skills that allowed me to come this far! I always look forward to "Coming Home to Joe"!

My son will be a sophomore this year and I can't speak highly enough of this great school! He didn't know anyone when he started and now he has this great group of core friends that he's found! The clubs are fantastic, the kids are so smart. I love this school!

What a waste of money...worst four (4) years of my life. I should have saved that tuition money for college.

I graduated from this school and my son is currently attending. I have an older son that chose to go to public school over St Joe's and the experience he had compared to what my son is getting from St Joe's is like night and day. My son is a shy non-athlete that came to St Joe's not knowing anyone but now has many friends, has joined a bunch of after school clubs, and gets along very well with all of his teachers. The college counseling is terrific - lots of back and forth communication. Teachers are very responsive to emails. I would not hesitate to recommend this school and have no regrets sending my child here. He loves it.Personally, I came from a public middle school and was bullied constantly. That all ended when I went to St Joe's. I didn't come away with 100 new best friends, but I never felt threatened like I did at public school.

Definitely white privilege school. Clubs and leadership roles are predominately given to white students. And that goes across the board including athletic department.

As a parent of two daughters who attended St Joseph I can say that they received an excellent education and were totally prepared for the college experience. They also learned the important values of life, caring and sharing. The friends they made at SJ are for life. They are still in contact with one another after 15 years and celebrate with each other at weddings and births. So glad we chose St Joseph for our children.

My two sons were prepared in every way possible for college and life beyond. Well worth the investment. Would make this decision again.

Bullying runs rampant at St. Joe's and the school’s zero tolerance policy is a joke!

Parents, DO NOT waste your money on this place. There is nothing exciting about the academics or the family community they profess to have at every open house/meeting. I too was razzle dazzled by the great speakers and marketing. Their job is to sell the school and recruit and they do it well. The school caters primarily to the folks with money and those into sports. Check the event photos...they are of the same kids & athletes. If your child is not a top performing student, the coursework/academics are lackluster at best...same as a regular public high school. Their claim to fame is the use of apple ipads which in reality can just get so annoying. The kids are on an ipad all the time and use their finger as their writing instrument The tuition is high and climbing and it does not include lunch. They do not offer good financial aid AT ALL and they should say that up front so the people can make an informed decision when choosing schools. The school was my child’s choice and leaving is not wanted. I feel terrible that my child is stuck there and feel angry to be paying tuition for this basic school. My only comfort is that my child is relatively safe while at school. What a mistake!

St.. Joes is probably thee best school in Connecticut. All the other reviews, while we're probbaly their true feelings, is not how MOST feel at SJ. We all are always there for eschlther, and even the most popular won't be annoyed if someone not in their "group" sits down next to them. Everyone here is genuinely kind, and the academics are second to none. It's easier to make friends here if you get involved. So yes, if u don't get involved you won't FEEL involved and part of everything. SJ is NOT just for white kids, people of any race & color fit in here. SJ is a great place, I go from 7am-probably around 6 everyday after sports. So fun & I reccomebdation it to u!

Amazing school! I am surprised by the last two reviews (appear to be from the same person). My child is NOT Caucasian, and is completely comfortable and happy at SJS. The academics are superior, and it is truly a family environment.

I went to this school for my freshman year, and it was the worst year of my life. This school is always boasting about how great it's community is, but they fail to mention that you'll only find friends if you're rich, white, and play sports. Sure, the academics are good, but they failed to make up for the complete alienation I felt the entire time I was there. Needless to say, I have transferred to my town's public school, and I am much happier here.

St. Joseph High School is an excellent school. My son graduated from St. Joe's in 2009 well prepared for college. He was accepted to his first choice, Loyola University, Baltimore, MD and graduated May 2013 with philosophy honors. He has been accepted to medschool and is on his way to a career he loves. I liked the fact that they were community minded, have a great sports program, the teachers were good and the guidance department was helpful. We were happy with his experience there overall.

The school is positively bad and I would not recommend it to my own worst enemy! If I cold do it over I would choose Lauralton Hall. My best friend their and had the best time ever. I should of listened to her instead of suffering here for 4 years!
