My child became su*cidal after the bullying he experienced at this school and the administration's failure to protect him.

While a handful of teachers at Newgrange are Wilson-certified, prospective, unknowing families are deceived by administration when they are told that their children will be receiving Wilson/OG educations. Literally anyone off the street can take a professional development session in Wilson but considerable time, effort, and study are required for certification. The school also advertises itself as having a twice exceptional pilot when in reality, administration drove the program into the ground and none of the students remaining at the school are actually twice exceptional. As others mentioned in their reviews, there was an influx of students this year who exhibited violent tendencies and behaviors that the school was not prepared to support. For a large portion of the year, there was not a full-time BCBA on staff. This negatively impacted overall school culture and put non-violent students and teachers in danger. My child was caught in the crosshairs of a behavioral crisis of one of these children and their hand was injured. Instead of doing anything to actually address the issues, admin put up a great show of adding new cameras and a PA system to the building while allowing children who were expelled from school to allowed to return a few weeks later. Run away as fast as you can.

What an honor for our son to attend the Newgrange School now located in Hamilton, NJ (Pennington). As a state approved special education school, the district paid for his education. As a taxpayer, I can tell you it was worth every dime extended on his behalf. We did not have to pay for anything. Quite frankly, this is the best school for its price in the entire state. It is excellent. His teachers were wonderful and are still there. The staff truly care for the students and work before and after hours to make sure the students’ needs are met. The administration is kind and listens. They work with the parents, as well as the students. Your child will have the opportunity for daily Wilson Reading Program lessons or Orton Gillingham. The staff has been trained in the programs taught and many are either certified or working towards the certifications for the programs taught. The facility is monitored by video so events or incidents are always reviewed. The monitoring is also of the outdoor play areas. The faculty is trained to help all children.Your child will know the janitors to the CEOs, and I turn, they will also know your child. Mutual respect for everyone is taught and expected. No one is above anyone else. Your child will have the opportunity to feel part of a loving community with many after hour activities, trips, and celebrations. The students’ IEPs are followed and the best methods are used for your child to succeed. This school helped our son and he returned to the school district and graduated in the top ten percent of his high school class. He was then recruited for a specialized job. He is now attending college. None of this would have happened without the hard work of the Newgrange Community.Thank you, Newgrange.

My child is thriving at The Newgrange School. I am thrilled with the teachers, curriculum, the communication. Neegrange is truly a unique environment where students thrive in a nurturing environment. The teachers go above and beyond to accommodate my child's needs. Thank you to the teachers and administration for making The Newgrange School an exceptional learning environment

So over this place. Elementary schoolers being assaulted on the playground and administration does nothing to keep them safe. Zero communication between admin and families (seriously how many times can I ask for an IEP meeting and be completely ignored?) Everyone I know is miserable this year and is planning to leave at the end of it if they haven't already left.

It's heartbreaking to witness how far downhill this school has gone.

It's so sad how far downhill this school has gone. Very high staff turnover, non certified people teaching classes. Stay away.

This school is FINALLY addressing my son's reading issues, as opposed to labeling him as "disruptive" when he simply needed a structured reading program, as opposed to State Testing Prep! We love the progress he has made in the year he has been here. He can read street signs, movie translations and write thank you cards. They take the time to get to know him to figure out how to educate him, as opposed to discipline him. The public schools should take a day and visit the school...

We are so fortunate to have our son attend this school. He wakes up every day eager to get on the one hour bus ride. He FINALLY knows how to read. Reading isn't stopped in any grade, it is taught EVERY day through the Wilson Reading method with qualified, trained teachers. All the classes use computers or smart boards. Hands-on learning is stressed adn followed through on by staff. Homework is a minimum - READ EVERY NIGHT 20 minutes. There are monthly, mandatory class trips - a weekly hot lunch option, and a FLEX period twice weekly where the child chooses what subject to explore. Math and Literacy is individualized, and all other classes are small group in nature. Physical education has adaptive PE. It is somewhat old fashioned in values and is located in an older Catholic school building despite being non-sectarian. The bells ring to change classes.
