Robinson is an amazing school. The teachers (every one of them) and principal are fantastic and very engaged. The PTA is strong and helps provide many programs and enrichment opportunities. We choose to buy our home in the Robinson Elementary area 10 years ago before our children were school age because of the strong reputation and the smart kids we saw come out of there.

Both my kids went to the school. The school is only slightly above average in terms of quality of teaching and the quality of students. They do have a strong PTA and a supportive community around, and are therefore able to provide access to better extra curricular activities than other schools in the area. The worst part about the school is extreme lack of diversity, rich and entitled kids fostered by their equally snobbish moms! Being people of color, my kids were bullied and made fun of for looking different than most of the crowd. I am not surprised, having dealt with the moms. Most of them are in PTA and treat the rest of the world like they are beneath them. They are snobs and put down anyone who speaks with an accent. There is favoritism among the staff for those PTA kids. And I am not the only who experienced this. Several other people of color gave me the same feedback and many of them chose to pull their kids out of here. I am not in the school any more, but I want anyone who would like to send their kids here to be aware!

This is the sweetest school. Staff, students and parents are all so nice. So glad we’re at this school.

Being close to Robinson Elementary was one of the deciding factors in our home purchase - we have had such a wonderful experience at this school! Our son is wrapping up his 4th grade year--distance learning is new to all of us--the awesome teachers and staff are doing an incredible job with such a sudden shift in procedure. Robinson PTA does outstanding things, too! Our daughter starts kinder at Robinson next year and we are just thrilled for her!

Robinson Elementary is a a fantastic school which is extremely well resourced. The PTA is very involved and because of this ALL grades are offered music. The school also has a dedicated science teacher, so the children have science class with the science teacher and also in their own class with their regular teacher. The school has superb grounds, not having to resort to using the public park next door as some schools in the area do. Many events throughout the year to encourage a feeling of community- jogathon, science fair, math and science night, Chalk Fest, Art in Action, Daddy/Daughter dance, Mother/Son events, a fully equipped game room, and family movie night on the field are some events that come to mind. Additionally the school has great supports for all children- GATE, SEDU, RSP, Speech Pathologist, Psychologist. Also the school has an active student council and the school promotes anti bullying and building kids of character. The demographic of the area is maturing so the school which had 1200 students in the past now has approx 650 students, so there is plenty of space for the kids to run around.I would like to address some of the criticisms on this site of the school-1. California academic standards. This school is not solely responsible for the academic standards in California so unless you are thinking of educating your kids out of state- you are probably stuck.2. Personal attacks on the Principal. I know the previous Principal was very much loved and people are not always comfortable with change. There are several reviews on this site attacking Mr. Kaplan that were posted in his first year at our school. I have to say that I have never had an issue with Mr. Kaplan. He has always greeted my children and I by name from our first day at the school, even remembering issues and topics that are important to my children and I. He knows everyone personally and is a very calming presence. Sometimes he teaches classes, he is quite active, very positive and constantly visible throughout the school. He does not hide in his office and is very accessible should you wish to discuss a matter with him. I am very happy that my children are at Robinson and would very much recommend this school.

The school, teachers, and staff are absolutely amazing, and heaven sent. After very bad, unpleasant kindergarten year at another school. I transferred my child to Robinson and had him redo kindergarten. His teacher was absolutely amazing, very patient, nurturing, loving yet firm. She truly loves the kids and teaching. It definitely shines through with the way how she runs her classroom. He is now in 1st grade and has another amazing teacher, who cares and wants to see all the students succeed. The office staff is so helpful and always pleasant to speak to. As for the principal, Mr. Kaplan - I find him to be very responsive, he is always willing to take time to speak to a parent and assist in finding a positive resolution if there is ever a problem. I have seen him several times out with the kids, playing and talking with them. I honestly can't say enough about this school, teachers, staff and the leadership. It is clear that their focus is the children and making them successful with their educational endeavors.

The academics at the school are pathetic because there is no district oversight/no consistency/no training. Teachers are left to their own devices and when its clear they are at sea, the principal is useless in affecting any change. The teachers will outright admit that it is too challenging for them to be effective. I'm sorry but if you feel like you can't do your job, please don't do my child a disservice by continuing to attempt to teach. We have been at 2 other schools, so it's not like I don't know how things can and should be. This is an old school that doesn't know how to keep up with new standards and is ok using them as an excuse for failure.

My son started 1st grade at Robinson this Fall (2013). At first we were worried because he's been at a Montessori school since he was 6 months old where the teacher:student ratios were much better. But due to the expense of having two kids in a montessori school at the same time, we decided to send our older son to a public school. I'm happy to say that we have been pleasantly surprised. First we spoke to a couple friends who have kids around my sons age and got a thumbs up. But the most profound thing is that my son talks about his teacher all the time. He loves his first grade teacher! And hes learned so much because hes actually having fun learning.

We just moved to CA from another state, and I cannot begin to tell you how low level the academic standards are! My kids are essentially repeating a whole year of school and not at the same rigorous rate as before. The teachers we have are nice, but the Principal is ineffective with maintaining high academic achievement. Yes, the PTA is great and very involved and yes, the parents are also very involved. However, the academics get a big zero in my book!

Our family is so happy at Robinson. Mr. Kaplan is very involved with the kids, always making time to chat with them. I see him working the pick-up line every day, and his upper-grade flag football league has been a great source of fun for the kids. The teachers are outstanding, the staff is helpful and knowledgable, and the parents are highly involved. The PTA funds wonderful programs such as Art in Action and science lab, and there are lots of community-building events such as Family Movie Night, Family Math & Science Night, and lots of other fun events that help Robinson feel like the close-knit community it is.

Our school has been great. We transitioned from a Montessori and were worried about the change in approach for our child. Our fears turned out to be unfounded. Our son talks more about his new teacher than he has about any other.

Principal Kaplan is to busy to handle staff or care about kids. The bigger question is what does he do all day. Classes are to big. Play equipment could use a makeover.

This school establishment is great- cant say the same about the principal. Classes are too big, and kids get left behind or hidden under those who "brown nose" the most. the principal is completely not capable of dealing woth conflicts. He hides behind his staff, avoids speaking to.parents- instead he will yake your child in the office and question he/she, and maybe (if he feels like it) fill you, he operates on "his" clock, and has no respect for the childs well being to resolve issues in a timely manner. Mr. Kaplen, get it together- as i told you before, NOT everyday are you gonna have a "coffee and donut kinda day"- you may have to solve issues from time to time! So get some skills. I am not ths only parent who feels this way, belive me. This school lives by the saying- "tell me what you have, and I will tell you your worth". Thats wrong. Last I checked, people were people, not money signs.

The school is excellent; however, the class sizes are too large. The teacher-student ratio doesn't permit the teacher to focus enough attention to struggling students and really challenge the resources of the teachers. I'm thankful to the teachers that work extremely hard, the parents who are deeply involved in supporting the school, and the PTA who contribute to the students' needs and supplement the school's programs. With all that said, it's a wonderful school with an even more wonderful community.
