My experience at P.S.226 my daughter was second grade she never liked the school cuz they never teach her also there are 30 students and more in the classroom. My daughter used to come home crying get some hits and make fun of her from the children I spoke to the teachers and it continued but I have to move my daughter for her safety.

The worst experience I have ever had. Kids are not learning and teachers are unable to teach. I cannot believe that someone from doe has not gone in there..not just for a spot check..but for the year. Teachers are terrified of administration and are fearful because they blatantly lie about what happens in the school. Teachers are punished for ridiculous things (socializing..which was saying hi in the hall) doing exactly as asked at the last minute..but it wasn't put in the lesson plan..or helping a colleague by taking a student who needs a break.

My child has been in this school since kindergarten. I appreciate all the teachers and how they have focussed on my child's educational needs. I'm satisfied with results all these years.

I have had a great experience working at 226. The teachers, administration, and parents work well together. The school offers a lot of support to the teachers and gives lots of oppertunity for growth. The students are low but hardworking and get along well with their teachers and peers :)

Principal is egotistical, lazy, unorganized and vengeful. As a result, every year for the past 19 years half of the teachers quit and barely any students can read on grade level. She enjoys overworking teachers so that everyone is too busy to notice that she barely does any work. The Principal does not care about teachers!!!! Numerous teachers have been hit, cut and bruised by ACTUAL STUDENTS and she does nothing to help. Whenever something bad happens she is quick to blame someone else and never takes responsibility. For 2 decades the superintendent hasn't been holding her responsible for this failing school so nothing will ever change until she leaves.

Do NOT work here. The entire administration at this school needs to get out of there. They are nothing but bullies. They like to hire inexperienced teachers and bully them until they quit. The second you screw up, you will be on their radar for the rest of the year, and they will belittle you both in private and in public. They don't care about the kids. If they did, they would be doing everything to help the TEACHERS, so that the kids can do better---but instead, they blame everything on the teachers, and give criticism that feels like a punishment. Children can be seen running around the halls during class time, or hitting and hurting their teachers. One teacher got a broken finger, and the student only got a 2 day suspension. Anything that the children do, administration does not punish them for (again, they blame the teachers). They are out of compliance in many issues. Some first year teachers did not get a mentor, while others rarely saw their mentor (who is state mandated to meet twice a week). Specialties such ENL and special education suffer the most. The teacher of the ENL class must translate everything, as there is nothing in any curriculum that is translated for them. Special education is a mess. The school lost almost all of their special education teachers from the 2016-2017 school year. They only retained one, who became an IEP/SETSS teacher. So out of the 7 special education teachers that they hired for this current school year, 5 have already left. If you have any self-respect for yourself, please look at other schools.

The Principal has a history of harassment and intimidation towards teachers. As a result, the school has lost many, many great, talented educators. The teacher turnover is very high, which is worrisome. Once a teacher's tenure is coming up, they will be pressured into resigning. The Superintendent needs to take a closer look at what is happening at this school, and speak to a few teachers. Administration, especially the principal, need to think long and hard about the way they run the school, because both teachers and students are being affected. The best way to change this school for the better is to completely replace the Principal and administration, which do nothing but bicker at each other and bully their staff.

Teacher turnover is absolutely at its highest!!!!! 80 teachers have left over the past 10-15 years! Amazing teachers have left and have been all been extremely happy at other locations. Administrations are nothing less than bully their staff, belittle parents and do NOT but kids first! Principal refuses to tenure. And because administration don't get along, they create battles among their staff. It's unorganized, unprofessional and completely out of compliance in both special Ed classes and bilingual. I have no idea how they get by without superintendent seeing these issues. There's a guidance counselor that doesn't help or service students and no help to teachers. 6 teachers have left this year alone and it's only November! The school is so bad the substitutes don't come to cover! Save yourself and don't work or go to this school!!!

For at least the past 3 years 25%- 33% of the teachers have left each school year. Many highly qualified, dedicated professionals have left and that is a serious problem. If you look at similar local A rated schools, they have many veteran teachers and a low turn over rate. The administration at PS 226 should think long and hard about how the treat, train and retain teachers or risk remaining a C school for years to come.

this is the worst school in which their children can be, is very poor and have no other student programs. Children who fall behind bilingual programs. The only person is willing to help in the school is MR Ure a.
