Pre k student was bullied and class teacher did nothing to help. The class teacher chose to call the 4 year old Pre k Student a liar rather than believe him when he said a particular student was putting his hands on him. Despite the student coming home with injury marks on his hands and face. We had no option but to withdraw the student and shift to another school.

I don't recommend this school at all, they are failing across the board, My Son is having difficulties, they didn't inform Me, (His Father) for two weeks, also during their direct supervision My Son was assaulted by another student while they stood there watching and injured severely requiring stitches.

If you are considering this school and you have an ESE kiddo or a child with a neuro diversity and its not your zone school, look elsewhere. They will rescind and send you back to zone at the first opportunity.

My daughter currently attend Gilchrist and loves it. She is on the Autism spectrum and has an IEP, and is doing great so far. Great communication between myself and the staff. Staff seems to really care about the students.

Average experience. Higher ratio of African American students/teachers needed.

If you have a child that has an IEP in regular class with accommodations, this is not the school for you. They will not give the support needed for the child to succeed in general ed. In addition, if you question their non compliance the administration will divert and try to blame the parent. This is my second child at this school and my first child did well, but he also didn't need any additional services.

I have a third grader and a first grader that have been attending Gilchrist since kindergarten. The teachers have all been AMAZING! It's been such a pleasure to be part of this school. My children are thriving!

I moved here over a year ago to Tallahassee to find a great school for my children. I have an 8 year old with Autism and a 5 year child. We chose Gulchrist Elementary because we saw that it is a Blue Ribbon school recognized for it's high level of performance. They have great programs for children. My son used to struggle with reading and math. The school has an excellent team of educators that take the time to understand what each of my children needs are and give them extra attention in the areas that are needed. They have many family events like Donuts for Dad, Grandparents Week, Mother's Day activities, and family events too. Whenever I want to check on the progress of my child, I can always contact his/her teachers by email for a meeting or even do a quick visit. The staff are very friendly and willing to help. The campus is beautifully decorated with all the children's artwork. They and reading program that gets the children motivates to want to read more. Whenever a child reaches a certain amount of points, the child is recognized on the school news. This is a great school with awesome educators and staff. I am so glad to have my children attend here!

This is a great school with excellent teachers, an awesome office staff and a very hands-on, engaged principal. We are very pleased to have our child attend this school for the last two years!

I was a student at Gilchrist for six years and, as far as I'm concerned, it is the best elementary school in Tallahassee. Thanks to the challenging lessons and Creative Academics classes offered there, I am maintaining all A's throughout middle school. I am in the eighth grade.
