Evergreen Lutheran is a private school that offered me several opportunities that other schools would have not been able to. Firstly, the small class sizes greatly encourage leadership from the students, and embracing this aspect gave me a great edge on peers in undergraduate school because of the wide range of prior leadership experiences that I may not have been from a larger high school. This is a great school for those interested in maintaining physical fitness and being involved on a sports team. While the records for the teams are by no means the most competitive, this allows everyone who is interested to participate at their level, whether it be on Junior varsity as a freshman through junior, or the opportunity to play varsity sports regardless of skill level as a senior. This is a great opportunity to embrace a leadership role, with or without the gifts of athleticism, and no large high school offers this opportunity. The staff is very personable and takes interest in the hobbies and interests of the students. Inclusivity is encouraged by faculty through collaboration in classes, and everyone is encouraged to do their best while undergoing difficult class work. While I was a student, the class work prepared me above and beyond what I was expected to do at undergrad school. This is a Christian school, and the lutheran faith is evident in the faculty and shared by a majority of the student body. This community is one that encourages the challenging of cultural beliefs, and is fully rooted in the Bible. The journey of faith is a lifelong one, and this school offers religion classes that provide a background on these biblical foundations to continue this journey outside of school. I would recommend giving evergreen Lutheran high school a go with an open mind, this school has your best interest in mind as an individual. There’s not much room to blend in, but rather to stand out and use your gifts and abilities to have a great high school experience!

Our daughter is in her sophomore year. Our first child at ELHS. We intend to have both children graduate from ELHS. It is such an affordable + valuable private school education. We are thrilled with the level of Christ-center education and overall learning. There are ample sports available and being a smaller school, the ability to participate is excellent at every skill level. The staff is terrific and it's a great campus for the smaller student body to expand into over time. There are pros/cons to big public vs small private. I went to a huge public (Puyallup HS) and Evergreen is a much better Christian environment with tougher academics for my children.

Love it! ELHS prepares students for the real world! They hold students accountable. My child excelled in their 4-year university Math & English courses. Great job to ELHS teachers!

I would say that my time with Evergreen Lutheran was nothing but a waste. From the moment you get on the bus you are treated with a freezing temperature and lack of a sufficient heater to the point that students bring their own blankets. Teachers are clearly biased and treat other students unfairly. Some of the teachers have a lack of actual communication and teaching skills that they revived from the mediocre college they they endorse. I once heard a teacher discourage a student from going to a community college and go to the Expensive Martin Luther College. Not attending a concert could make your grade drop straight down to an F from an A. Detentions have an abysmal ten dollar fine. The grading scale is horrendous and the textbooks, especially the history books, are outdated and have false information. The math teacher is especially inadequate in her line of work. In conclusion, Evergreen Lutheran is a atrocious school with negligent teachers, outdated textbooks, and poor teaching conditions. I recommend not sending your family or friends to this unsatisfactory school

I loved going to school here! I have three children that have also gone to school here and love it. They have learned to love others as God loves us and are a light in their World.

Overall, I'm kind of dissapointed. I'm not done with my time here yet, but I feel that the failing administration among other things have left me with a currently sour experience. It also took them 6 weeks to get me in the right math class (as I took geometry in 8th, I was supposed to be in Algerbra 2 this year. They had been sent my course information multiple times but failed to do anything with it, much like the time it took them 6 weeks to find a fellow student's absence excuse sent by parents. This was serious as unexcused absences can lead to detentions for the classes you missed. Each detention costs $10 to get into). I also may be a bit biased because I was placed with a bad host family and am currently attempting to clear up a misunderstanding with them, but the average-feeling teaching and bad administration (and, previously bad fiscal management had launched into debt when they trusted the wrong person with their money. A very complicated story, but for another time).
